Blaine is a character appearing in the Delta Series I, he is the Gym Leader at Cinnabar Island's Gym. He specializes in using Fire-type Pokémon. He is a highly intelligent man who made Mewtwo and is the creator of the Delta Machine.

Character History

Series I

Blaine was first seen as a member of Team Rocket, studying and creating Mewtwo. After Mewtwo escaped his laboratory on Cinnabar Island, Blaine left Team Rocket. Blaine felt ill shortly thereafter, but still traveled around Kanto to avoid punishment by Giovanni. Blaine arrived in Lavender Town during the winter and met up with Mr. Fuji.

When Red arrived in Lavender Town, he found Blaine under attack by Team Rocket. Blaine had his Rapidash carry Red to Mr. Fuji's house while he stayed behind to fend of Team Rocket. At the Mr. Fuji's house, Red used a machine to Delta evolve his Charmeleon. Red and his Delta Charmeleon defeated Team Rocket's pokémon, forcing Team Rocket to escape.

After the battle, Blaine moved back to Cinnabar Island to work on the Delta Machine.

Series II

Blaine meets Red again when Red visites Cinnabar Island to battle him. Red and Erika want to learn more about the Delta Machine. Blaine told Red that it is not finished.

Later, Blaine asked Red to help him in Cerulean Cave. Here, Blaine reveals to Red that he had created the Pokémon Mewtwo by cloning the eyelash of Mew along with adding his own human DNA to complete it. When Mewtwo escaped from Team Rocket's captivity, only Blaine was able to track it, hence why Team Rocket had been searching for him. With the use of Blaine's Master Ball, Red managed to successfully capture Mewtwo. Blaine gave his Delta Machine to Red as a gift after capturing Mewtwo.

Series III

When Blaine returned to Cinnabar Island his laboratory gets burned down by Giovanni. Giovanni attacks Blaine with his Rhyhorn. Blaine disappears after the burning.

Character

Although Blaine is serious for most situations, he also had his comical moments. Blaine had his mustache burnt when he was training and had to use fake ones. Sometimes, he may also use riddles to lighten up the dark atmosphere.
