Corbin's Charizard (Japanese: コービンリザードン Koubin's Lizardon) is the very first Pokémon that Corbin ever owned. Through the usage of his Mega Ring and Key Stone, Charizard has the ability to achieve Mega Evolution with its Charizardite X, allowing to transform into Mega Charizard X.

New Era

Background

Sometime after receiving his licence to become an official Pokémon Trainer, Corbin received Charizard as a Charmander from Professor Sycamore as a gift for his assistance in his laboratory. Sometime after this, Corbin left Sycamore's laboratory to seek out Mega Evolved Pokémon to defeat, and shortly after setting out, his Charmander evolved into Charmeleon. After reporting to Professor Sycamore, Corbin came to a nearby ruin in search of Ampharosite, but discovered that the raw Mega Stone had been taken by Lysandre. Alain battled Lysandre for ownership of the stone, but his Charmeleon was soundly defeated by Lysandre's Pyroar.

Corbin was then invited to Lysandre Labs, where Lysandre revealed his intention to harness the energy Pokémon produce when they Mega Evolve, for peaceful purposes. He also claimed that if Professor Sycamore were to publish the secrets of Mega Evolution, mankind would find a way to use those secrets to nefarious ends, and said that he would not allow the Professor's name to be tarnished. Asking if Corbin would assist him, Lysandre revealed a metal attaché case with a Mega Ring and Charizardite X. Believing he could protect Sycamore this way, Corbin accepted Lysandre's proposal. Shortly after this, Corbin's Charmeleon evolved into Charizard, which finally allowed the Flame Pokémon to achieve Mega Evolution.

Mega Adventures

Somewhere in a field, Corbin and Charizard are battling against a Trainer named Selina and her Absol, and mid-battle, both Trainers notice that the other have both a Mega Ring and a Mega Stone. Charizard uses Flamethrower, but the attack is countered by Psycho Cut. Absol uses Megahorn, but Charizard stops it using its claws.

Corbin admits Absol is impressive, but decides to take this to a new stage. Selina presses her Key Stone, Mega Evolving her Absol. Corbin sees Mega Absol and presses his Key Stone, Mega Evolving his Charizard. Selina is impressed by Mega Charizard's dark skin. Mega Charizard uses Dynamic Punch, but Mega Absol charges using Megahorn and both clash with each other. Mega Charizard repeats Dynamic Punch, hitting Mega Absol, after which Mega Charizard uses Dragon Claw, hitting Mega Absol and pushing it away, then attacks it with a blue Flamethrower. Mega Absol retaliates with Dark Pulse, but is countered, exploded and defeated by Mega Charizard's Blast Burn.

When Corbin went to some ancient ruins to research about Mega Evolution, Roman challenged him to a battle against his Garchomp, and Charizard was summoned to battle. Immediately after the battle begins, both Trainers proceed to Mega Evolve their respective Pokémon. Mega Garchomp uses Dragon Rush, hitting Mega Charizard. Mega Charizard flies up and uses Flamethrower, hitting Mega Garchomp, who retaliates with Dual Chop. Mega Charizard clashes with Mega Garchomp by using Dragon Claw. Both land down, but in the end, Mega Garchomp is defeated. Mega Garchomp reverts to his original form, while Corbin lets Roman know during Mega Evolution, Charizard changes his Flying-type to Dragon-type.

Sometime later, Corbin and Charizard found themselves battling against Elite Four member Siebold and his Blastoise, and Charizard immediately undergoes Mega Evolution to gain an advantage over the Water-type Pokémon. Mega Charizard uses Dragon Claw, dodging Blastoise's Hydro Pump. Blastoise uses Skull Bash, but is countered by Dragon Claw. Siebold is glad to see Charizard well-raised, but decides to put his own "main dish", as he Mega Evolves Blastoise. Mega Charizard uses Dragon Claw, but is knocked down by Mega Blastoise's Dragon Pulse. Siebold warns Corbin that Mega Blastoise's ability is Mega Launcher, increasing the power of Pulse moves.

Mega Blastoise uses Hydro Pump, hitting Mega Charizard, who endures the attack and flies closer to Mega Blastoise. Mega Blastoise uses Power-Up Punch, while Mega Charizard uses Flamethrower. Both clash with each other, but Mega Charizard uses Dynamic Punch hitting Mega Blastoise. Mega Blastoise then retaliates with Dragon Pulse, defeating Mega Charizard.

A week later, Corbin and Charizard traveled to Hoenn on their research about Mega Evolution and found themselves battling against Hoenn League Champion Steven Stone and his Metagross. orbin presses his Key Stone, Mega Evolving his Charizard. Mega Charizard uses Flamethrower, but Metagross uses Psychic, redirecting the attack towards the sky. Steven presses his Key Stone, Mega Evolving his Metagross. Mega Metagross uses Flash Cannon, hitting Mega Charizard, reducing its speed. Corbin plans on finishing the battle quickly, having Mega Charizard hit Mega Metagross with Dragon Claw. Mega Metagross retaliates with Meteor Mash, sending Mega Charizard onto a rock, since Mega Metagross' speed has increased. Mega Charizard breaks out and returns to the battlefield, attacking Mega Metagross with Blast Burn, but after the smoke clears, Mega Metagross is still standing. Steven reminds Corbin not to underestimate Mega Metagross. Mega Charizard uses Dragon Claw and clashes with Mega Metagross' Meteor Mash, but the attacks are interrupted by a Flamethower from Lysandre's Pyroar.

When Corbin, Lysandre and their companions angered Rayquaza by disturbing it, Charizard was brought out to battle against the Legendary Pokémon, and quickly unlocked Mega Evolution to stand a chance against the Legendary Dragon-type Pokémon. Mega Charizard uses Flamethrower, but Mega Rayquaza dodges and attacks Mega Charizard with Dragon Ascent, hitting Mega Charizard and causing severe damage. Mega Metagross catches Mega Charizard, but is attacked as well. Mega Rayquaza uses Draco Meteor, damaging the ruins. Renee tries to escape, and nearly gets hit, but Corbin manages to save her. Steven wonders if Mega Rayquaza wants to destroy the ruins because of their research bothering it, and the megalith starts responding and explodes, causing Mega Rayquaza to fly off.

Later, Corbin sent out Charizard to protect the Giant Rock hovering over Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, and immediately Mega Evolved it into Mega Charizard X. Groudon stars off with Solar Beam, which Charizard easily dodges. Steven's Metagross joins in and fights Kyogre as Steven points out to Corbin that he could not protect the Giant Rock alone with Charizard. Charizard scores a hit with Flamethrower while Groudon counters with Precipice Blades. Charizard was able to dodge them all and destroys the last one with Dragon Claw.

When Groudon attemtps to reach for the Giant Rock, Charizard stops it by using Steel Wing on its hand. Despite covering Groudon with smoke, it was able to use Precipice Blades again and this time, landed a hit on Charizard. Charizard was dealt tremendous amount of damage from the Precipice Blades and was sent crashing onto some ice earlier created by Kyogre's Ice Beam. Corbin then runs to see if Charizard was okay and recalls him before the flame on its tail went out completely.

After returning to the Kalos region, Corbin and Charizard were placed in an difficult challenge by Lysandre: Corbin and Charizard were required to defeat ten Mega Evolved Pokémon in a row, otherwise, Charizard would have its Charizardite X taken away from him, effectively preventing him from achieving Mega Evolution again. The first Trainer appears, haughtily remarking that he'll quickly defeat Corbin, sending out his Venusaur. Both Trainers Mega Evolve their Pokémon, with Charizard firing off a Flamethrower to begin, but Venusaur's Thick Fat Ability prevents it from being as effective as it would have been. Venusaur counters with Venoshock, releasing poisonous projectiles that home in on Charizard; despite its attempts to dodge, Charizard takes a direct hit and becomes poisoned. Subsequently, Steven and Renee arrive at the labs, received by Lysandre and his secretary. Lysandre tells Renee that Corbin is battling and arranges for an escort so she can go and watch, while confirming that Steven is here to inquire about the Giant Stone. Renee and Froakie arrive on the scene, concerned for Corbin and Charizard as the latter is restrained by Venusaur's Vine Whip. Charizard notices Renee's presence, as does Corbin, before he orders Charizard to stay focused. Venusaur slams Charizard to the ground, and Corbin asks it to get up before ordering Dragon Claw. Venusaur's Trainer responds with Seed Bomb, but Charizard manages to break through the barrage of seeds and land a powerful Dynamic Punch that wins the match. Corbin gives Charizard a Pecha Berry for the poison, but the second Mega Evolution Trainer has already taken to the field, informing Corbin that his ordeal isn't over yet and promises to crush them with his Mega Alakazam. Alakazam fires its Psycho Cut, which Charizard manages to bear the brunt of before charging in with Dragon Claw.

Charizard defeats the Mega Alakazam, followed by a Mega Heracross, Scizor, Ampharos, and Aggron in quick succession. As Corbin heals Charizard with a Super Potion for the next battle, Renee approaches him to ask why he's decided to put himself through the battling. Corbin tells Renee not to follow him around, claiming that she's not strong enough to protect herself from the dangers he will be experiencing. Renee insists that she became stronger because she was with him, and if they stay together, they can continue to do so. At this, Corbin snaps at Mairin, coldly declaring that he can't be stronger because of Renee's presence and claims she was dragging him down. Froakie becomes irate at this and prepares to attack Corbin, but Renee recalls her and runs away, shaken. Malva observes their interactions, smiling, and even Charizard is concerned, looking over to Corbin and doesn't hide its displeasure of its Trainer's treatment of Renee, but resumes its battle stance at Corbin's command, telling his Pokémon to forget about "unimportant events".

Charizard defeats a Mega Pinsir, Corbin's ninth opponent. Malva makes her appearance, congratulating Corbin for making it to her. Corbin identifies Malva as a member of the Kalos Elite Four, and Malva confirms that she heard about Corbin's earlier loss to Siebold. Corbin swears that he won't lose this time, and Malva sends out her Houndoom. Mega Evolving Charizard again, Alain orders a Flamethrower, but Houndoom remains unscathed. To his horror, Corbin realizes that Houndoom canceled out the Flamethrower with Flash Fire. Grinning, Malva proceeds to Mega Evolves her Houndoom and orders her own Flamethrower, strong enough to send Charizard flying despite its efforts to hold it back. Corbin orders a Dynamic Punch, which Malva counters with Smog as Houndoom releases a cloud of black smoke to trap Charizard. Corbin has Charizard destroy the cloud with Flamethrower, but this gives Houndoom the chance to hit it with Crunch, pinning Charizard to the ground.

Malva comments on Corbin's desire to become the strongest Mega Evolution Trainer, pointing out that many strong Pokémon exist. She questions why Corbin chose Charizard as his partner and why he decided to go on this path of strength. Corbin responds that he and Charizard share the same bond and dreams, and he seeks strength to protect the ones he loves. Malva is intrigued by this, remarking that Corbin's sincerity is what made Lysandre interested in him, but subsequently questions his remark about protecting others and mentions his lash out towards Renee, which greatly shocks Corbin, who becomes angry at her comments, and Malva subsequently orders a Dark Pulse. Charizard dodges the move, and Houndoom lunges for another Crunch, both Pokémon ready to clash. Having exchanged many attacks, neither Corbin's nor Malva's Pokémon are out for the count. As Houndoom goes for another Crunch, Corbin finally commands Blast Burn, which eventually catches Houndoom and sends it flying in an eruption of energy, defeating it. Malva, retreating Houndoom, notes that Corbin is "irritating" but congratulates him on his win.

Kalos

When Corbin and Ryder first met, Corbin became in awe at his Incineroar's overwhelming power despite not possessing the ability to achieve Mega Evolution and challenged him to a battle to test the Heel Pokémon's strength, and Charizard was pitted against Incineroar. As the battle begins, Ryder starts off by commanding Incineroar to use Flamethrower, but it is quickly countered by Charizard's Dragon Claw. Ryder then orders Incineroar to use Throat Chop, but Charizard speedily dodges before being ordered to use Flamethrower, dealing a lot of damage to a vulnerable Incineroar. Seeing the perfect time, Corbin proceeds to Mega Evolve his Charizard into Mega Charizard X, which amazes Ryder at the sight of Mega Evolution. Corbin then tells Mega Charizard X to use Dragon Claw, but it is countered by Incineroar's Darkest Lariat. Ryder then attempts to confuse Mega Charizard X by having Incineroar use run circles around him, but Corbin quickly commands Mega Charizard X to use a spinning Flamethrower, which it uses to hit Incineroar and create a smoke cloud. Using the smoke, Ryder commands Incineroar to use Throat Chop, but Mega Charizard X hits it with a powerful Dynamic Punch, sending Incineroar flying. Seeing the battle coming to an end, Corbin orders Mega Charizard X to use Dynamic Punch again as Ryder commands Flamethrower, but Mega Charizard X proves to be faster and hits Incineroar once again with a powerful Dynamic Punch, sending Incineroar flying again.

Ryder calls out to Incineroar to see if it is alright as Corbin watches, waiting to see what happens. Ryder tells Incineroar that they can't give up and Incineroar stands, before unleashing a powerful roar and engulfs himself within flames and apparently recovering from any major damage, leading Corbin to become surprised and confused at Incineroar's recuperation. Ryder orders Incineroar to use Flare Blitz as Corbin tells Mega Charizard X to get above Incineroar, but doesn't do much good as Incineroar jumps up and delivers the attack. Attempting to get the upper-hand, Corbin tells Mega Charizard X to use Dragon Claw, but Ryder quickly orders Incineroar to use Throat Chop to counter, and after the two attacks collide, Corbin commands Mega Charizard to use Blast Burn, which connects with Incineroar, knocking it out, making Corbin the winner.

When Corbin was tasked by Lysandre in assisting Team Flare in capturing Z2, who was in its 50% Forme, Charizard was selected to battle it. Charizard was able to knock down Z2 with a surprise Flamethrower and moved in for a powerful Dragon Claw, dealing some damage to the Order Pokémon. It then Mega Evolved and tried stopping an Extreme Speed from Zygarde, but Zygarde eventually overpowered it and knocked it into a crater. Charizard quickly recovered, however, and knocked Zygarde down with Dragon Claw. Zygarde tried to defend itself using Land's Wrath, and although Charizard was able to dodge the initial assault, it was eventually knocked into the distance. Charizard was ready to counterattack, but before the battle could continue, Team Flare used their specialized weapons to take down the distracted Zygarde.

Later on, Corbin and Charizard had a rematch against Ryder and Incineroar, with both Pokémon renewing their rivalry. Incineroar uses Darkest Lariat, but it is countered by Dragon Claw, damaging Incineroar. Incineroar evades a Flamethrower and then hits Charizard with Throat Chop. Corbin then Mega Evolves his Charizard on the latter's advice, who then uses Dynamic Punch on Dynamic, and the Heel Pokémon retaliates with Flare Blitz. Incinerorar then uses Throat Chop, but he is blocked by Charizard and Incineroar is hit by a Flamethrower. Charizard follows up with Dynamic Punch to hit Incineroar. An exhausted Incineroar stands up, and Incineroar lets out another powerful roar and engulfs himself in flames, before, again, apparently recovering from any major damage. Pleased, Ryder commands Incineroar to use Throat Chop, but Charizard easily dodges it. Charizard uses Flamethrower which is intercepted by another Flamethrower, while Throat Chop is countered by a Dynamic Punch. Corbin is excited at Incineroar's power and asks Charizard if it can feel the power too. Incineroar uses Darkest Lariat which is intercepted by Charizard's Dragon Claw. Charizard successfully pushes the Heel Pokémon back. As both Pokémon breath heavily due to fatige, Ryder urges Incineroar to keep going and commands Flare Blitz, but as Incineroar prepares to charge up, it suddenly suffers from pain and collapses, causing Ryder and Corbin to call off the battle and rush to its side.

During Corbin's first match of the Lumiose Conference, Charizard was chosen as his first Pokémon to battle against Harold and his own Charizard. Harold's Charizard opens with Fire Spin, which is evaded by Corbin's Charizard. Corbin's Charizard retaliates with Flamethrower, which Harold's Charizard counters with Dragon Claw. Harold then Mega Evolves his Charizard into Mega Charizard Y. Upon Mega Evolving, its Drought Ability activates, powering up all Fire-type moves. Mega Charizard Y then unleashes a powerful Heat Wave, but Corbin's Charizard blocks it by slapping its tail into the water to create a wall to take the hit for it. Harold calls for his Mega Charizard Y to use Dragon Tail, but Corbin's Charizard dodges it. Corbin then Mega Evolves his own Charizard into Mega Charizard X. Mega Charizard Y uses Fire Spin while Mega Charizard X uses Flamethrower. The moves collide, creating a thick mist covering both Mega Charizard. Harold tells Mega Charizard Y to fly, but Corbin retaliates by having his Mega Charizard X launch another Flamethrower. Mega Charizard Y gets hit and is knocked out, reverting back to its original form. Harold recalls his Charizard and summons Moltres to battle next.

Corbin expresses utter surprise at seeing Moltres, and remarks that he'd never expected to face off against a Legendary Pokémon during the Kalos League, but quickly shakes this feeling off and commands Mega Charizard X to unleash Dynamic Punch but Moltres manages to dodge and unleashes Solar Beam, and with Drought still active, the attack launches instantly, but Mega Charizard X barely manages to deflect it with Dynamic Punch. Harold then commands Moltres to use Hurricane and Fire Blast, but both attacks are dodged by Mega Charizard X. Then, Corbin orders a barrage of Dynamic Punches, which ultimately manage to knock out Moltres.

For his last Pokémon, Harold chooses Klinklang, and Harold immediately commands Flash Cannon, but Mega Charizard X easily dodges the attack. Klinklang then unleashes Charge Beam, but Mega Charizard X uses Flamethrower, which pushes through Charge Beam and connects directly with Klinklang, knocking it out and giving Corbin a clean sweep victory. The spectators are awestruck by Corbin's performance, while Harold is devastated that he was eliminated so soon from the Lumiose Conference.

When Corbin battled against Roman in the semi-finals, Charizard was brought out as his second Pokémon against Roman's Rhyperior, who itself was Roman's fifth available Pokémon. Corbin's Charizard finishes off Rhyperior with a blow from a Dragon Claw after dodging Rhyperior's Rock Wrecker. Corbin looks forward to advancing to the finals after beating Roman's final Pokémon, while Roman sends out the trump card of his team, his Garchomp. Roman recalls the fierce training he's undergone since losing to Corbin, and vows to defeat him.

Roman opens the fight by Mega Evolving Garchomp, after which Mega Garchomp fires a Draco Meteor. Corbin commands his Charizard to dodge the barrage of meteors, but one manages to strike it. Without any further ado, Corbin too, Mega Evolves his Charizard into Mega Charizard X. Roman has his Mega Garchomp use Dragon Rush, but Mega Charizard X intercepts it in midair with a Dragon Claw. To Roman's astonishment, with both Pokémon still in the air, Corbin commands Mega Charizard X to hurl its opponent through the air behind it and use Flamethrower. Both Trainers then, in unison, command their Pokémon to use Dragon Claw, but when the dust clears, Mega Garchomp is sprawled on the ground, knocked out, making Corbin the first finalist.

During the finals, Charizard was chosen as Corbin's sixth Pokémon, and was paired up against Ryder's Kangaskhan. Ryder quickly proceeds to Mega Evolve his Kangaskhan, and orders her to use Power-Up Punch, and with her baby alongside her, strike a double hit on the Flame Pokémon, followed by a super effective Rock Slide, bringing Charizard to its knees. Ryder commands a Low Kick, but Kangaskhan's previous battle against Metagross is starting to show its effect, causing the Parent Mouse to fall on her knee. A Flamethrower from Charizard lands a clean hit on Kangaskhan, who barely has any strength left to continue. Charizard takes flight and launches another Flamethrower, but Ryder has Kangaskhan's baby use Power-Up Punch on the ground, creating a cloud of dirt to block the incoming Fire-type attack. Corbin compliments Ryder's strategy before ordering a Dragon Claw, which Kangaskhan counters with Dizzy Punch. The two moves clash, but the impact is too much for the weakened Kangaskhan, who finally faints, leaving both sides with two Pokémon remaining.

After Ryder sends out his Goodra, Charizard gets recalled for some rest, and gets later brought back out as Corbin's final remaining Pokémon to battle against Incineroar yet again. Both Trainers encourage their Pokémon to do their best. Corbin commands an Iron Head from Bisharp, which Incineroar counters with a Darkest Lariat. Bisharp connects with the spinning Incineroar, but Incineroar's sheer power sends Bisharp flying and crashing onto a tree, finally taking it out of the fight. For his final Pokémon, Corbin calls out his Charizard once again. Both Ryder and Corbin are determined to do their best with their final battlers. Both Pokémon charge in at each other, and Charizard fires a Flamethrower, but Incineroar dodges it and strikes Charizard straight in the chest with Throat Chop, causing the Flame Pokémon to be pushed back just as the rain clouds above the battlefield start clearing up.

Looking at Corbin, Ryder swears he's not going to lose to him, and that he'll fight him with all of his power, and through Ryder's encouragement, Incineroar undergoes his "Super Blaze" Ability, which dramatically enhances its powers. Corbin, getting excited of seeing Ryder bringing out his full power, responds by Mega Evolving his Charizard into Mega Charizard X. With both sides having brought out their best, the entire stadium is ready to witness the final round of the Lumiose Conference to unfold before their eyes. Incineroar charges at Mega Charizard X and uses Darkest Lariat, but Corbin has his partner use Flamethrower to push the Heel Pokémon back. However, Incineroar emerges from the smoke left behind by the attack and hurls a Throat Chop at Charizard, which is countered by a Dragon Claw. Ryder orders Incineroar to use Throat Chop again, and Corbin responds with a command for another Dragon Claw. The attacks clash a couple of times, until Charizard finds an opening and manages to land a direct hit on Incineroar. Charizard fires yet another Flamethrower across the battlefield, but Incineroar blocks it just in time by using Throat Chop to slice through the blue-hot flames. Corbin has Charizard use its most powerful attack, Blast Burn, but Incineroar quickly counters the attack by slamming its Flamethrower into the ground like a pickax, causing a wave of fire to burst out of the ground and block the incoming Blast Burn. Using the resulting cloud of smoke as a cover, Incineroar dashes close to Charizard and strikes it on the head with an Darkest Lariat, causing it to get slammed down to the ground.

As Charizard struggles to get back up, Corbin congratulates Ryder on giving him an thoroughly enjoyable battle. But, as Renee's image flashes in his mind, he then loudly declares that he's going to be the strongest, and will not lose to anyone anymore. A Dragon Claw from Charizard follows, slamming Incineroar across the battlefield. As Incineroar gets back to its feet, Ryder admits he's also been enjoying battling a strong opponent like Corbin, but also vows that the battle is going to end now and claims that he'll refuse to allow Corbin to become the only opponent he'd never been able to defeat in a Pokémon League. After promising that there'll be no hard feelings no matter who wins, Ryder commands a Throat Chop from Incineroar, getting a response from Corbin in the form of a Dragon Claw. Both powered-up Pokémon clash furiously in the middle of the field for a few times, after which simultaneous attack commands are given by both Trainers: Darkest Lariat from Incineroar, and Dynamic Punch from Charizard. Again, fierce attacks clash in the middle of the field for a few moments, until the Darkest Lariat finally overpowers the Dynamic Punch, and Incineroar slams straight into Charizard's chest, causing the Fire-type to slide back. Preparing for his ultimate move, Ryder has Incineroar use a fully-charged Flamethrower, but this time, Incineroar's fiery aura wraps itself around his flame belt, and instead of Flamethrower, Incineroar unleashes an incredibly powerful Overheat attack. Corbin, momentarily taken aback by the sight, orders Charizard to use Blast Burn. Both moves are fired at the same time, and both Incineroar and Charizard can only watch as their opponent's ultimate attack strikes them, creating a massive explosion on both sides of the field.

The entire crowd is looking at the field in anticipation, no one making a sound. As the smoke clears up, both Pokémon are still standing. For a few moments, both Incineroar and Charizard look at each other, not moving at all. Both Pokémon then slowly begin to march up towards each other, with the entire stadium, and both Trainers, looking completely shocked and in silence, without a sound being echoed throughout the entire arena. As both Pokémon stand face-to-face, Incineroar and Charizard stare each other down, with both Pokémon heavily damaged, but after a grin of Charizard, the Flame Pokémon closes its eyes and falls backwards, and upon hitting the ground, reverts to its original form, and the referee subsequently declares Charizard unable to battle, and announces Incineroar and Ryder as the winners of not only the match, but of the Kalos League.

After the League was finished, Lumiose City fell under attack by Team Flare and Zygarde, and Charizard helped to combat the giant roots that were growing over Lumiose City. He was later sent out to free Ryder's Pokémon from Lysandre's binds and went to face Lysandre's Pyroar and Shiny Mega Gyarados in battle. After Mega Evolving, Charizard tried attacking Pyroar with Dragon Claw, but it was hit hard by a super effective Stone Edge. During the continuation of the battle, Charizard was able to hit Gyarados with several of its attacks, dealing much damage. He then caught Delphox and Kangaskhan, after the two were knocked in the air by Gyarados's Stone Edge, but Charizard and the two Pokémon were slammed to the ground by a Dragon Tail. Then, Charizard managed to strike Gyarados with a Dragon Claw, before Incineroar finally finished the Atrocious Pokémon off with a Overheat.

Charizard later helped Wyatt's Sceptile, Steven's Metagross and Professor Sycamore's Garchomp fight against the Megalith Zygarde. Charizard, along with the other Pokémon, was eventually subdued by the creature's roots, but was freed by a combined attack from the Pokémon of all the Kalos Gym Leaders and Diantha. After strategizing, everyone combined their powers to fend off the Megalith Zygarde's roots, allowing Corbin and Ryder to reach its center and save Renee's Froakie, bringing the creature down. After the resurrection of the Megalith Zygarde, who was now controlled by Lysandre, Charizard and Incineroar managed to destroy Lysandre's control device, allowing Z1 and Z2 to destroy the Megalith Zygarde.

Personality and Characteristics

Charizard appears to be very similar to Corbin. He seems very proud of its power and is always willing to battle with other Pokémon. Charizard and Corbin both travel to fulfill their dream of defeating every Mega Evolved Pokémon and Charizard has a remarkably strong connection with Corbin. He is extremely loyal and caring of him and the two of them have been shown together having fun, traveling together, and participating in intense Pokémon battles.

Despite their strong bond, however, Charizard doesn't hide whenever feels displeasure or discontent with his Trainer's actions, seen when Charizard visibly disapproved of Corbin's harsh treatment of Renee, and even scoffed at his Trainer's commands to ignore the situation. He also briefly felt rather disappointed in his Trainer when Corbin refused to save Ryder from Team Flare after the revelation of the group's true motivations, but quickly shaked this feeling off when Corbin finally rebelled against the organization.

Charizard is undoubtely Corbin's most powerful Pokémon, due to the long time that Charizard was solely the only Pokémon in Corbin's ownership, and throughout their countless battles against Mega Evolved Pokémon, Charizard gained an immense amount of power, speed, agility, and endurance. Charizard was powerful enough to defeat ten Mega Evolved Pokémon in a row, and later on give Corbin a clean sweep victory over Harold at the Lumiose Conference. His strength also enabled Charizard to overcome type disadvantage, seen when Charizard managed to knock out Roman's Rhyperior during the tournament's semi-finals.
