As Regigigas

Dwayne's Regigigas (Japanese: ドゥエインのレジギガス Douein's Regigigas) is the eighth Pokémon that Dwayne caught during his travels in the Sinnoh region, and his thirty-eighth overall.

New Era[]

Sinnoh[]

Regigigas was awakened when Pokémon Hunter Cage's Salamence destroyed all the pillars that kept Regigigas in its sleep. A small blue ball between where the pillars once stood has begun to glow, but, other than that, there is no sign of Regigigas's awakening. Cage commands Salamence to use Flamethrower, much to Brandon's dismay. Suddenly, a triangle on the floor that had connected the pillars begins to glow, and Regigigas appears, immediately using Hyper Beam on the temple's walls and ceiling. Cage prepares to turn Regigigas to stone, but Regigigas stops him with Hyper Beam, forcing Salamence to counter it with Dragon Pulse. Cage retreats while Regigigas goes on a rampage. As the temple starts to collapse, Brandon sends out his Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. The titans save Brandon, Dwayne, and Maria from being buried in falling rock by using Focus Punch, Zap Cannon, and Flash Cannon, respectively. Dwayne, Brandon, and Maria escape, protected by the titans, right before the temple collapses into a pile of rubble. Just when Dwayne notes that Regigigas cannot escape the rubble, it suddenly breaks out, still shooting Hyper Beam in every direction.

Brandon decides to calm Regigigas down by attempting a capture. His titans use Hyper Beam, but Regigigas counters it with a Hyper Beam of its own. The titans then charge Regigigas to use Focus Punch together, but Regigigas pins them down. Regirock and Registeel then grab onto Regigigas, and Regice uses Ice Beam, freezing Regigigas along with Regirock and Registeel. Cage is watching, smiling darkly, happy that they are weakening Regigigas for him. When Regigigas defrosts, Regice uses Zap Cannon, paralysing it. Registeel uses Iron Head, knocking Regigigas to the ground. Regirock uses Stone Edge, weakening Regigigas even further. Brandon prepares to capture Regigigas with a Poké Ball, but just before he throws it, Cage's Dustox uses its String Shot to tie him up, along with Dwayne and Maria. Cage returns Dustox to its Poké Ball, while Regigigas's eyes begin glowing, followed by the eyes of the titans. Confuse Ray takes effect and, as in the legend, the titans become Regigigas's guardians, attacking Cage (Regirock and Regice with Zap Cannon, Registeel with Flash Cannon). The four legendary Pokémon then begin to leave the temple together, and Cage follows. All four start to attack the mountains with Hyper Beam. Brandon tries to stop them, failing. He then tries to return his titans to their Poké Balls, but they are not responding to him at all. Regice then turns on Brandon, using Zap Cannon, but Brandon is able to dodge it. Cage notes that the four legendary titans seem to be heading for the city. The legendary titans continue using Hyper Beam once in the forest.

Cage has gotten ahead of the four legends with his airship, ready with his henchmen to catch Regigigas. When the four legendary titans reach Cage, his airship shoots lasers at them, which the legendary titans counter with Hyper Beam. Afterwards, the airship shoots a liquid adhesive, which bears a striking resemblance to bubble gum, at Regigigas, to trap it. Regigigas is not completely immobilized by the gum, however, and uses Hyper Beam to destroy one of the airship's engines. While dodging Hyper Beams fired by the three titans, Cage orders his henchmen to get the airship out of Regigigas's firing range. Cage fires his bracelet at Regigigas to turn it to stone, but Regirock jumps in front of the blast to protect it and is turned to stone instead. Cage, frustrated, tries again, and again; the blasts are taken by Registeel and Regice instead. Cage fires the bracelet again now that there is nothing between him and Regigigas, but Brandon, telling Dwayne to take control of the airship, jumps out and in front of the beam and is petrified instead. Regigigas catches him before he can hit the ground. Before Cage can fire again, Glaceon attacks with Blizzard and Ice Shard. Salamence unleashes Dragon Pulse at the airship, but Regigigas, breaking free of the gum, deflects the attack back at Salamence, breaking Cage's bracelet.

Cage becomes infuriated and orders Salamence to use Dragon Pulse, but Regigigas manages to dodge. Dwayne lands the airship and heads towards the battle. Regigigas and Salamence continue battling, but Regigigas gets weakened due to trying to protect Brandon while simultaneously battling Cage's Salamence. As Regigigas places Brandon safely on the ground, Salamence lands a direct hit with Hyper Beam, which knocks down the Legendary titan. Cage fixes his bracelet and prepares to encase Regigigas in stone, and realizing that Regigigas was about to be taken away, Dwayne throws a Poké Ball at Regigigas, and Regigigas gets inserted inside the Ball just as Cage's cannon is fired, saving Regigigas from getting turned to stone.

The Poké Ball shakes for a it bit, until the mechanism glows red, signifying Regigigas's capture. Cage curses Dwayne and is about to command Salamence to attack him, but gets interrupted when his henchmen who say that his client canceled the deal, apparently after being frightened by the destruction. Seeing no further reason to stay, Cage and his henchmen leave the area immediately. Dwayne grabs Regigigas's Poké Ball and immediately releases it from his ownership, apologizing for being forced to catch him, but Regigigas doesn't seem to mind. Maria apologizes to Regigigas for letting them awaken it, and asks it to save Brandon and the titans. It agrees, using its powers to unfreeze them before returning to the form of an orb.

Personality and Characteristics[]

Upon its rude awakening, Regigigas immediately cemented its status as a Legendary Pokémon by destroying anything and everything on its path, to the point of Regigigas's power negating the after-effects of Hyper Beam, being capable of firing off at multiple directions several times. Its power was further shown when Cage's Salamence, who time and again proved to be an extremely powerful Pokémon itself, struggled against Regigigas.

Enraged at being awakened without plausible reason, Regigigas began destroying the Snowpoint Temple, and even enslaving Brandon's Legendary titans to assist it with its destruction. However, upon witnessing Brandon sacrifice himself to prevent Regigigas from being turned to stone by Cage's beam cannon, Regigigas finally realized that Cage was the one and only culprit behind its awakening, and discarded all other grudges to focus on the Pokémon Hunter.

After fending off the mercenary, Regigigas showed itself to be quite calm and level-headed, as when Dwayne apologized to it by catching it to prevent Cage from taking it away, Regigigas understood Dwayne's reasonings, and when Maria asked for Regigigas's help in restoring Brandon and his Pokémon back to normal after being turned to stone by Cage's beam, Regigigas complied, and showed gratitute towards its defenders before going back to sleep.
