Ethan Hibiki (born August 22, 1990), also known as Gold, is a Johtoan Multi-type Pokémon Trainer. He was the Champion of the Indigo Plateau from 2006 to 2014. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential trainers of the 21st-century. He is now a teacher at the Oak Academy in Violet City.

Early life[]

Ethan Hibiki was born on August 22, 1990, at the PokéCenter in Cherrygrove City. Hibiki grew up in New Bark Town. His father Peter Hibiki is a politician and former mayor of Cherrygrove City. His mother Louise Hibiki-Akane is journalist and newsreader at KJBS News.

Hibiki got inspired to become a Pokémon Trainer when he saw Blue Oak and Red Norisada battle each other on television.

Career[]

Ethan began training in 1999 with his cousin Whitney Akane. In 2001, Ethan Hibiki enrolled in a Pokémon Training academy run by Myron Mikan. He participated in several small tournaments in West Johto.

Hibiki started his Pokémon journey at age 12. On 22 September 2002, Hibiki won his first badge in Violet City. He was complared to Lance Wataru during his first matches. In 2003, Hibiki traveled through Johto and earned most of his badges. He won his last badge in March 2004 at the Blackthorn Gym.

Ethan Hibiki challenged the Elite Four on 1 June 2006. He defeated the Elite Four in one try; Morty Kikuko (2-0), Karen Kurai (1-0), Will Itsuki (3-0) and Lorelei Yanagi (1-0). During the summer seasonal break, Hibiki took the time to prepare for the battle with Champion Blue Oak.

On 9 September 2006, Hibiki challenged Champion Blue Oak. Ethan won after defeating Oak' Blastoise with only one Pokémon remaining in his party. Ethan Hibiki became champion on 10 September 2006. He had an unbeaten status till 2014, when Sho Tadatomo defeated him.

As of 2017, Hibiki is a teacher at the Oak Academy in Violet City, where he imparts knowledge to aspiring Pokémon Trainers. He also typically participates in battle tournaments and occasionally reappears as a surprise challenger.

Battling style[]

Ethan Hibiki trains several types of Pokémon and never specialized in any particular type, His signature Pokémon are his Typhlosion named Exbo and his Togekiss named Togebo. He is known for his self-righteous attitude when it comes to training.
