Tom Herbert (Japanese: まことマコト Makoto Tokuda) is the deuteragonist of the Pokémon: Battle Quest. Tom is a young man from New Bark Town and his goal is to become a Pokemon Master.
He started his journey with a stubborn Cyndaquil and earn his first badge later return home to show a Pokémon to Professor Elm which hatch to a Togepi and become a traveling companion of Ash and since travel with him to many regions

Tom has Black Hair and has short pointy Triangle size bang in the original series he wears a plain black shirt and blue Hoodie and red sneaker and black pant In the Hoenn Saga He wears a black shirt and Blue Jacket and black pant In the Sinnoh Saga He wears White Shirt with a Black Vest and Red Jacket with Black Stripe In the Unova Saga he wears Collar Shirt with a Red Tie and a Blue Coat similar to Cheren grey pants In the Kalos Saga He White Collar Shirt with a Light Green Coat with Grey stripe in Alola Saga Tom wear a plain collar shirt and black pant
Personality[]
Tom is a quiet and polite young man and battle with the best strategy unliked Ash, Tom is very collective and level headed and not as impulsive as Ash as he took any lost he gain at heart. Tom doesn't act rash or acted overconfidently often prepares himself, and focuses on raising his Pokemon skills and strength, and tries his best to get his Pokemon to overcome their weakness. Tom is much more perspective than Ash and quickly understand any given situation.
Tom is very kind, supportive, and forgiving, though sometimes this makes him slightly naive. Tom has shown to value the bonds of friendship between People and Pokemon and passive about the relationship between Trainer and Pokemon. He is friendly, polite and a lot more down-to-earth in which is why he was able befriends many Pokemon Cyndaquil despite its early dislike for Tom. Tom connects to his other Pokemon such as Typhlosion during the time the moment he first caught it and did not listen to any of Tom's commands until it lost against Chuck and Tom care for it.
Tom is rather humble as he doesn't boast even when he has accomplished many achievements and doesn't act overconfidently. He doesn't usually grow angry, only doing so when people insult the hopes and dreams of others or begin to give up on their dreams. Tom is highly resourceful and planning. When he battles and overcoming any situation and also can act as an advisor and gives guidance to Trainers alike such as Brenden May, Dawn, Lucas, Hilbert, Hilda, and Iris
Tom has a strong sense of justice to assist Officer Jenny, the Pokémon Rangers, and the Police for their mission. He hated all sources of evil organizations and Pokémon Poachers because they steal Pokémon from people or the wild and doing bad stuff to them. He risked his own life to protect Pokémon and defeat criminals to put an end to their schemes.

Tom has shown be quite athletic, he can run, swing on vines, carry some heavy stuff, swim and is very good climber He also has the ability to use Bond Phenomenon, shown in the XYZ series, with one of his Pokémon, Chesnaught.

Tom has an ability called Clear Mind to call out the Three Legendary Dragon Pokemon Tachgon in it seal Pokeball giving Tom a Yellow Aura

Original series[]
Tom started his Pokémon journey when he had just turned ten years old. However discovering that he is about to be late to pick his First rush out of his house and when he got to the Professor's Lab, two of the Starter Pokémon were choosen with Cyndaquil the only starter left Professor Elm said that Cyndaquil wasn't very friendly and disliked Tom straight away and fire him with its Ember attack, this marks the start of his journey with Cyndaquil. Later, Cyndaquil starts to trust Tom.
Advanced Generation[]
Starting a new journey with Ash, Tom received new clothes from his mother and left the rest of his team with Professor Elm, intent on capturing new Pokémon in Hoenn, taking only Cyndaquil, his Starter, with him from home - the idea being to recapture the feeling of first leaving New Bark Town as a new Trainer.
Diamond & Pearl[]
Departing for Sinnoh with Ash, Tom once again left his previous captures from the Hoenn Region at Professor Elm's laboratory, with the exception of his Murkrow, who'd follow Tom expressing it's desire to travel with Tom again After arriving in Sinnoh by boat and reuniting with Brock

Tom travel to the Unova Region and reunited with Ash and eventually decide to travel with Ash again to earn Gym Badges to participate the Unova League.

Tom follow Ash to the Kalos region to compete in the Kalos League and to continue their dream of becoming a Pokémon Master. He gained new traveling companions in the siblings Clemont and Bonnie, and Ash's Childhood Friend Serena and a Pokemon Trainer named Calem
