Ryder's Delcatty (Japanese: ライダーのエネコロロ Raida's Enekororo) is the third Pokémon that Ryder captured after becoming a Pokémon Coordinator, and his forty-second overall.

New Era[]

Contests: Hoenn[]

On his way Fallarbor Town, Ryder comes across Delcatty, who was still a Skitty, and sees that it was very ill-looking. When Skitty doesn't react, Ryder realizes there is something wrong with it. Ryder attempts to feed it some of his handmade Pokémon food, but Skitty does not accept it. He knows exactly what to do, and promptly heads to an aromatherapy laboratory known as The Greenhouse. Ryder remembers that aromatheraphy is a method of healing using fragrances. A woman in a lab coat notices Ryder standing at the front entrance and asks if she can help him. The woman introduces herself as Eliza, the therapist featured in an infomercial for the facility as Ryder explains something is amiss with Skitty. Inside, Eliza gives Ryder a tour, where she explains that she mixes the Sweet Scents of Pokémon with aromatic herbs and flowers to create healing remedies. Ryder shows Eliza the Skitty, and she reports that is merely experiencing fatigue, not sickness. The aromatherapist then concocts a brew right before Ryder's eyes, and places it in an aerosol device to spread it into the air. Ryder decides to watch over Skitty as it recovers. Sometime later, Skitty awakens and much more energetic than before. Eliza walks in, and Skitty adorably chases after its own tail before turning its attention to Eevee's tail, though Ryder intervenes. Eliza gives Skitty some food to keep up its strength, though Ryder decides it the perfect time to try and catch Skitty. Ryder tells Eevee to prepare. Skitty, however makes the first move and bowls Eevee over with a Double-Edge.

Eevee recovers and strikes Skitty with a Quick Attack. As Ryder prepares to throw his Poké Ball, Skitty recovers and uses Double Slap, which hits Eevee numerous times. Skitty then uses Sing, but Eevee manages to dodge, and Eevee retaliates with Swift, but Skitty counters with Copycat, allowing Skitty to also use Swift, and both attacks collide with each other. Ryder orders Quick Attack, and Skitty again uses Copycat, allowing her to mimic Quick Attack, and both Pokémon collide head-first with each other. As both Pokémon struggle with the pain, Skitty uses Blizzard, but Eevee dodges and manages to use Double Kick, which sends Skitty crashing into the wall, after which Ryder throws a Poké Ball, and successfully captures Skitty.

While preparing to enter the Verdanturf Town Pokémon Contest with Skitty, Ryder comes across a mysteriou masked Coordinator known as "Void", who challenges him to a battle. Ryder accepts the challenge and pits Skitty against Void's Dusclops. Skitty starts with Blizzard, but Dusclops dodges the attack. Dusclops repeatedly uses Psychic, hurting Skitty with these attacks. Skitty uses Copycat and retaliates with Psychic, too, but Dusclops easily dodges the attack. Void goes to end a fight, but a car is approaching, so Void calls Dusclops back. Void calls the battle a draw and disappears, with the wind blowing.

During the next day's Pokémon Contest, Skitty was chosen to participate in her first Contest, and she takes the stage during the Appeal Round. Unfortunately their opening move, Blizzard, fails, so Ryder tries to make up for it with Skitty using Double Slap to juggle some rubber balls. This works relatively well, earning him a score of 24.9. The second round starts with Ryder versus Stefano and his Wartortle, who loses in a matter of seconds to Skitty's usage of Copycat, which allows her to return Wartortle's Skull Bash towards it.

In the finals, Ryder and Skitty battle against Terri, Void's real identity, and her Dusclops. Dusclops starts off with a Focus Punch, striking Skitty. Before Ryder could even give her a command, Skitty tries a Double Slap, but as a Normal-type attack, it doesn't affect the Ghost-type, and Ryder reminds Skitty to follow his commands. Dusclops uses another Focus Punch, but this time Skitty successfully counters with Double Slap, sending the Focus Punch back, before using Copycat to launch a Focus Punch of her own, but again, it has no effect as Fighting-type attacks were also uneffective against Ghost-types, and Ryder facepalms at Skitty's rashness. Dusclops next uses Will-O-Wisp in combination with Psychic to further damage Skitty.

Skitty tries a Blizzard attack, but Dusclops counters with Hyper Beam. Skitty attempts a Blizzard, but the move fails again. Dusclops uses another Hyper Beam to damage Skitty again. Meaning to end the battle, Dusclops uses tries to use Psychic, but Ryder refuses to give up, this time having Skitty use Copycat, which allows Skitty to use Psychic, and with Skitty being faster, her Psychic consumes Dusclops, and Skitty begins tossing Dusclops around the arena. This move evens out the score between the two contestants. Dusclops tries again to end the round, this time with Focus Punch, but Skitty counters with Blizzard, which freezes Dusclops's hand, and Skitty subsequently uses Double Slap, causing Dusclops's ice-covered hand to struck it, causing further damage.

Giving it her all, Terri has Dusclops use Will-O-Wisp. Skitty again counters with Blizzard, which stops Dusclops's attack. Skitty attacks with another Blizzard, but Dusclops stops it with Psychic. Dusclops again uses Hyper Beam. Ryder decides to have absolute faith in Skitty, and tells her to try Blizzard again, and Blizzard breezes through Dusclops, which knocks it to the ground in defeat, making Ryder the winner of the Pokémon Contest.

Sometime later, Ryder trains late into the night for the upcoming Rubello Town Pokémon Contest, testing all five of his Pokémon to see which is the best choice for the upcoming Contest. Skitty uses Copycat to mimic Roselia's Razor Leaf, and subsequently does so for Manectric's Flamethrower, Sylveon's Quick Attack and Fairy Wind, and Incineroar's Throat Chop and Overheat. Then, Skitty stumbles and trips in its attempted usage of Roselia's Poison Sting, but Ryder remains confident and happily remembers Skitty's earlier performance.

After leaving Rubello Town, Ryder has stopped for lunch in the Shroomish Forest. However, Ryder realizes he forgot to pack up supplies before leaving Rubello Town, and his stomach begins to growl, and so does his Pokémon's, and Ryder wonders what they'll do. Then, Ryder sees some trees that have apples on them, and decides to gather the apples for them to eat. However, they are suddenly confronted by a horde of angry Shroomish, and Ryder realizes that they weren't happy with them taking the apples. Several more Shroomish appear, jumping down from the trees and unexpectedly the new arrivals suddenly evolve into Breloom. While fleeing, Ryder and his Pokémon run straight into more Shroomish. They launch a barrage of Bullet Seeds, which sends Ryder and his Pokémon blasting off, but Ryder quickly returns the majority of his Pokémon to their Poké Balls, with the exception of Skitty and Sylveon. Skitty and Sylveon find themselves on a tree branch hanging above a large, deep ravine. Skitty, crying, lands with Sylveon and follows the Fairy-type Pokémon as she leads them away. Ryder lands somewhere in the forest and begins searching for Skitty and Sylveon, but only seconds later, Ryder is again confronted by the Breloom. Ryder decides that his Pokémon's whereabouts were more important and decides to flee rather than battle.

Skitty and Sylveon walk through the woods, searching for Ryder, but they are then blocked by Breloom, and Sylveon steps in front of Skitty to protect her, as Breloom smugly taunts Sylveon into battling it, and Sylveon glares at it before charging towards it. Sylveon's Quick Attack clashes with the Breloom's Iron Tail, and Sylveon is sent flying into a gorge wall. The Breloom turn their focus to Skitty, but Sylveon stands in the way and takes a Mach Punch to protect Skitty. Sylveon continues to be beaten up by the four Breloom while Skitty watches, completely frightned. Sylveon is almost knocked out, but is saved by the sudden arrival of Ryder. Skitty finally gains some courage and leaps onto Ryder's backpack and knocks a Moon Stone off of it, and Ryder remembers that the Moon Stone was given to him quite awhile ago by his father. Skitty touches the Moon Stone, which causes her to evolve into Delcatty.

One of the Breloom orders a one-on-one battle against Delcatty, which she accepts. Breloom prepares to land an Iron Tail attack, but is struck by Delcatty's own Iron Tail. Breloom follows up with Mach Punch, and Delcatty's usage of Copycat allows her to use a Mach Punch of her own, and both attacks collide. Delcatty then uses Sing, and Breloom falls asleep, which allows Delcatty to use Water Pulse to send Breloom flying. The attack causes Breloom to wake up, and the wild Pokémon is not quite finished yet and challenges Delcatty to hand-to-hand combat. Delcatty obliges, and a vicious fight ensues. Both Pokémon are hit numerous times in the face by punches and kicks, and in the end a cross-counter knocks out both Pokémon. After they wake up, Delcatty and Breloom have developed respect for each other and shake each other's hands.

Ryder declares that it is time for another break and makes more food to satisfy everyone's appetites. Over the meal, Ryder notes that he was impressed by Delcatty's hand-to-hand combat skills and admits the intense fight has given him new ideas for his upcoming Contest performance. Delcatty smiles at her Trainer's compliment and nuzzles against him to show affection, which Sylveon doesn't take too kindly of, as she and Delcatty wrestle to nuzzle against Ryder, as the young Trainer laughs at their bickering.

Because of her newfound power, Delcatty was Ryder's choice to participate in the Lilycove City Contest. As Ryder lets Delcatty onto the stage, she uses Sing and golden music notes come out of her body and float in the air, and Ryder follows up by ordering Iron Tail, which shatters the music notes into a shiny sparkle shower, as Ryder and Delcatty pose as the sparkles rain down on them, which earns him a score of 25.1 points, allowing Ryder to advance to the next round.

After defeating their opponents in the first and second match of the Battle Round, Ryder and Andrea face each other in the finals, pitting Delcatty vs. Grumpig. Grumpig tries an Iron Tail, but Delcatty bats the attack away with Double Slap, costing Andrea some of her points. Delcatty issues a Double-Edge counterattack, but is foiled by a Psychic, and Grumpig sends her back. However, Delcatty uses the wall to propel herself foward, and smashes Grumpig with Double-Edge, but then gets caught in a psychokinetic trap and is rendered helpless. Andrea declares that she is going to finish Ryder off, and Grumpig Bounces towards its opponent. With quick thinking on Ryder's part, Delcatty aims a Sing at the ceiling, causing it to rain down as Grumpig falls asleep. They fall together as the Grumpig's Psychic attack fails, but Delcatty saves them both by using Iron Tail to halt their descent. The five minutes are up, and with the most points remaining, Ryder is declared the winner.

Contests: Kanto[]

Delcatty was selected by Ryder to perform on the Appeal Round of the Chrysanthemum Island Pokémon Contest. Ryder orders Delcatty to use Sing, and several multicolored music notes starts floating around the stage, and Ryder commands Delcatty to use Swift on them, which shatters into them countless shiny sparkles, and Delcatty finishes the performance with Iron Tail, and she smacks the sparkles with her tail, and Delcatty's body becomes engulfed in shiny sparkles, as she lands gracefully, and the crowd cheers heavily for the great performance.

During the second round of the Battle Round of the Kanto Grand Festival, which was contested under Double Contest Battle rules, Delcatty teamed with Manectric to battle against Felicia's Glalie and Hitmontop. Ryder quickly starts the battle with Delcatty using Double-Edge. Hitmontop launches a whirlwind of sand towards Delcatty's direction by using Rapid Spin on the ground, as Manectric jumps onto Delcatty's back and jumps while charging up for a Thunderbolt. Manectric begins gaining altitude while Glalie flies into the sandstorm and launches a magnificent Flash, blinding Manectric and finally reveals itself from the veil striking down with a devastating Blizzard.

Delcatty launches a Sing attack that fills the arena, while Manectric glides through with Hyper Voice for a combination that lowers Felicia's points. However Hitmontop evades, while a Icy Wind from Glalie batters Manectric and Delcatty. Hitmontop follows on with a ferocious Triple Kick, closing in on Delcatty and Manectric at a high rate. Manectric counterattacks with a Electric Terrain, which results in an explosion that pushes the Pokémon back and deducts points on both sides. Felicia doesn't hesitate and calls for a combination attack; Glalie launches a Water Pulse and Hitmontop uses Focus Energy followed by a Mega Kick that hits the Water Pulse, increasing its speed and ferocity. Both Delcatty and Manectric attempt to evade but manage to take direct damage from the attack. Glalie and Hitmontop rush forward with a Water Pulse and Rapid Spin, respectively. As the two opponents close in, Ryder evaluates the situation and directs Manectric and Delcatty to launch a Thunder and Swift combination, scoring a direct hit on the opposition.

The Contest Battle timer slides to just below four minutes while Felicia and Ryder continue the match. Delcatty uses Double-Edge while Glalie uses Flash, blinding Manectric but having no effect on Delcatty as she closed her eyes just in time. Hitmontop attempts to use its Triple Kick attack to divert Delcatty, but only manages to knock her above the arena. With Hitmontop's back turned, Delcatty launches a devastating array of Swifts towards Hitmontop. Glalie responds to divert the attack with Water Pulse, but Manectric intevenes with his Hyper Voice, allowing the Swift attack to hit Hitmontop. Upon Delcatty's decent, she strikes down with a finishing Double-Edge just inches away from Glalie, knocking it out. As Delcatty begins its final descent, Hitmontop takes advantage of the time and uses a Mega Kick to harshly knock Delcatty into a stadium wall, rendering Delcatty unable to battle. Both Coordinators return their unconscious Pokémon.

After Ryder decided to participate in Contests in the Sinnoh region, Delcatty, along with the rest of Ryder's Pokémon, with the exception of Incineroar, were left at Professor Oak's Laboratory.

Personality and Characteristics[]

Delcatty is a very ditzy and mischievous Pokémon, often letting herself out of her Poké Ball, and having the tendency to run off on her own, causing Ryder to become worried, only to show up whenever she felt it was convenient. She's also got a soft spot for flowers, often seen eating them when she finds one, and even blatantly steals other people's flowers to eat.

Furthermore, Delcatty used to be a very rash Pokémon, often attacking on her own accord even without Ryder giving her commands, which often caused great trouble, especially during Contests, seen during her battle against Terri's Dusclops, where Delcatty attempted to use ineffective Normal-type attacks against the Ghost-type Dusclops. However, her rashness gradually faded away following her evolution.

Despite her mischievous nature, Delcatty is a very friendly and kind-hearted Pokémon, and when not causing trouble, she gets along perfectly with her fellow Pokémon, and seemed to have formed a specifically friendship with Ryder's Sylveon, whom Delcatty became lost with after they were separated from Ryder at Shroomish Forest, and seeing Sylveon putting herself in harm's way to defend Delcatty from a group of Breloom was the trigger that gave Delcatty enough confidence to allow herself to evolve via a Moon Stone. Nevertheless, Delcatty and Sylveon still have their differences, seen when they started bickering over Ryder's affection as Delcatty was trying to receive all of Ryder's attention during lunch.

In battle, Delcatty was fairly weak and unreliable prior to her evolution, relying mostly on her usage of Copycat, as Delcatty would often attempt to use her Blizzard attack, but it would very often fail. After evolving, however, Delcatty became much stronger, able to compete in hand-to-hand combat with a wild Breloom, something that Ryder remarked being surprised at. While still not being Ryder's strongest Pokémon, Delcatty has more than often proved herself being capable of going up against well-trained and powerful Pokémon, such as Felicia's Glalie and Hitmontop at the Kanto Grand Festival.
