Wailish are small whale Pokémon covered in several barnacles that are hard as rocks. They have tiny black eyes, and a dark blue underbelly. Their fins are also lined with tougher skin the same color as their underbelly.
Behavior[]
Wailish live in underwater trenches and sleep for days on end. During this time, microscopic Pokémon colonize on Wailish's bodies, forming these barnacles that are tougher than rocks. When Wailish wake up from their naps, they swim with other Wailish in schools.
Habitat[]
Wailish live in underwater trenches.
Diet[]
Wailish eat little fish Pokémon that happen into their mouths while they nap.
Wailish take 7 naps throughout the year, each of them lasting from several days to a few weeks. When they wake up, they are well rested, and are able to swim for miles at a time.
Wailish's diet consist of hundreds of pounds of fish that they devour while they sleep. Unfortunately, Wailish don't even know what kind of fish is their favorite, because they only eat while they're asleep!
I didn't like this Pokémon when I first created it because of how boring it is. Now that I've redesigned it, it's much cooler and cute, and fits better within the dex.
Major differences between it's original and current design are that it's front fins were made bigger and the back fins smaller, and the underbelly was turned dark blue instead of black.
Origins[]
Wailish is based on an average whale with barnacles.
Name Origins[]
Wailish's name comes from the word "whale" and the suffix "-ish," meaning, having the characteristics of (that being of a whale,) or the word "fish."
