Wailish (Japanese ワイリッシュ Wairisshu) is a dual-type Water/Rock Pokémon introduced in Generation Z.

It evolves into Barchale while holding a King's Rock.

Physiology[]

Wailish are small whale Pokémon covered in several barnacles that are hard as rocks. They have tiny black eyes, and a dark blue underbelly. Their fins are also lined with tougher skin the same color as their underbelly.

Artist's Notes[]

  • I didn't like this Pokémon when I first created it because of how boring it is. Now that I've redesigned it, it's much cooler and cute, and fits better within the dex.
  • Major differences between it's original and current design are that it's front fins were made bigger and the back fins smaller, and the underbelly was turned dark blue instead of black.

Origins[]

Wailish is based on an average whale with barnacles.

Name Origins[]

Wailish's name comes from the word "whale" and the suffix "-ish," meaning, having the characteristics of (that being of a whale,) or the word "fish."
