Kane (Japanese: ケイン Kein) is a Pokémon Trainer hailed from Hau'oli City in the Alola region. Kane is also a member of Team Skull.

New Era[]

Alola[]

Kane first appeared when he, along with his girlfriends Aisha and Samara, confronted Kiawe at the Pokémon School, and challenge Kiawe to a battle, where they would gain possession of his Charizard if they won and send out their Pokémon: Kane sends out his Salandit, Aisha sends out her Zubat while Samara sends out her Garbodor. Just then, Dwayne and Jade step in to fight as well, calling the trio cowards for their unfair tactics. Kiawe, however, states that he doesn't need help, but Dwayne and Jade refuse back down, and Kiawe finally relents. Kiawe sends out his Turtonator, while Dwayne chooses Gardevoir, while Jade chooses her Charmeleon. Kane tells Salandit to use Venoshock, Aisha tells Zubat to use Leech Life, and Samara tells Garbodor to use Sludge Bomb. However, all three Pokémon dodge their attacks. Jade orders Charmeleon to attack Salandit with Slash, while Gardevoir attacks Gardobor with Zen Headbutt. Both attacks land, but only Garbodor faints, while Salandit remains standing, albeit barely.

Zubat uses Screech, lowering Gardevoir's defenses. Zubat then swoops in with Bite, but Charmeleon leaps in front of Gardevoir and knocks out Zubat with Ancient Power. Salandit then attacks with Toxic, and Charmeleon gets poisoned. As Salandit charges in with Scratch, Turtonator stands in front of Charmeleon and uses Shell Trap. Salandit barely remains able to stand, and Kiawe tells Dwayne and Jade to leave the rest to him as he powers up his Turtonator using a crystal on his wrist, which allows his Turtonator to use a move known as Inferno Overdrive, which is strong enough to defeat Salandit, causing them to retreat.

The trio later appeared when Dwayne was visiting a nest of Pikipek led by a Toucannon and Trumbeak, when they fired a net and captured the Flying-type Pokémon. Dwayne orders them to let the Pokémon go, but they refuse as Kane sends out Salandit to battle. Dwayne tells Bounsweet to save her friends. She manages to cut through the net containing the Pikipek with a single Razor Leaf, which annoys Team Skull. Bounsweet then jumps in front of Dwayne and looks over to him, and Rotom says that Bounsweet was asking him to battle with her, and Dwayne accepts. Rotom scans Bounsweet and informs Dwayne of the moves she could use. With that, Dwayne orders Bounsweet to use Rapid Spin, which Salandit manages to dodge. Kane quickly orders Salandit to use Flamethrower, but Bounsweet's Rapid Spin allows her to spin around and dodge the attack, all the while increasing her speed. Ultimately, Bounsweet knocks out Salandit with back-to-back Rapid Spins, and Team Skull quickly retreats.

When Lillie and her Alolan Vulpix, Snowy, were walking around Hau'oli City in an attempt to bond with each other, Kane, Aisha, and Samara see them as they leave a Malasada shop, decide to get Snowy for themselves. Inside the shop, Lillie brings Snowy a collection of Malasadas, so that Snowy can pick which one it likes. They are unaware that Team Skull are spying on them. Outside the shop, Dwayne and Mallow wonder where Lillie and Snowy went. They decide to search elsewhere just as Lillie and Snowy depart the Malasada shop, Team Skull following them down an alleyway. Soon they are confronted by Team Skull, who demand her to hand over Snowy. After Kane gets distracted by a passerby Trumbeak, Lillie uses the opportunity to leave with Snowy but Team Skull chase after them. However, with Snowy using Powder Snow on the ground, Team Skull slip and fall. Lillie and Snowy run away but are soon cornered by Team Skull again. Nearby, Dwayne and Mallow hear Lillie's scream and rush off to find her. Lillie finds herself backed up against a wall with a big drop on the other side. Aisha summons her Zubat, and orders it to attack with Wing Attack, only for Snowy to counter with Powder Snow. Team Skull move closer to steal as Aisha has Zubat use Leech Life, sending Snowy flying over the wall. Lillie instinctively jumps off the wall to catch Snowy as Mallow orders Bellossom to use Razor Leaf to halt their fall. Dwayne and Mallow rush over, while Team Skull retreats, not wanting to battle Dwayne in their current situation.

When Dwayne and Mallow attempt to locate a Yellow Nectar to use in Mallow's family's restaurant, Kane, Aisha, and Samara fire a net at them to trap them within it, and state that Dwayne and Mallow were fools to not notice their presence, and says they would take all the Yellow Nectar and make their own "Skull-Style Dish". Bounsweet tries to stop, but Kane throws it away, which causes Bounsweet to become furious. She jumps into the air and evolves into Steenee, much to Dwayne's shock. Rotom scans Steenee, and informs Dwayne that she has learned new moves. Kane, Aisha, and Samara attempt to call out their Pokémon, but Steenee quickly attacks them with Double Slap, knocking their Poké Balls off their hands, before knocking them down with Magical Leaf. Afraid of Steenee's newfound power, the Skull trio retreats.

During the Family Visit Day at the Pokémon School, Kane, Aisha, and Samara begin wreaking havoc after grabing ahold of some Poké Ride Tauros and attacking the visitors when Roberta steps in. She decides to battle the grunts with Litten. Aisha commands her Zubat to use Bite while Roberta tells Litten to dodge it, and Litten uses Fury Swipes. Dwayne comes forward and decides to battle alongside his mother, but Valentine asks him to allow her to battle instead. Valentine sends out Accelgor and Vivillon. Zubat, Salandit, and Garbodor all use Toxic, but Accelgor, Vivillon, and Litten dodge it. Accelgor uses Swift while Vivillon uses Gust, and Litten uses Fury Swipes. Then, Valentine ends the battle by having Accelgor and Vivillon use Water Shuriken and Solar Beam, respectively, and Team Skull retreats.

A few days later, Kane, Aisha, and Samara are in an alleyway when Gladion walks past along with his Umbreon. They confront Gladion, but Gladion keeps on walking and demand that he leave his Umbreon with them. They send out their Pokémon to battle as Gladion sends out his Lycanroc. Team Skull orders their Pokémon to attack, but Lycanroc knocks them all out with a single Stone Edge. They recall their Pokémon and retreat as Gladion recalls Lycanroc.

During the Pokémon Dance recital class at the Pokémon School, Kane, Aisha, and Samara interrupt the ceremony, stating that they wouldn't allow such a "childish" display to continue, and Dwayne tells them to leave as they weren't welcome. With this, the trio sends out their Pokémon: Salandit, Zubat, and Garbodor, and they begin wreaking havoc around the area. However, their attacks are soon interrupted by Dwayne's Steenee, who goes on to tackle the Pokémon with her sepals. At Lillie's command, Snowy uses Powder Snow on the floor, sending Salandit sliding into a wall. Steenee unleashes a fury of kicks on the Poison-type Pokémon, which steadily glows and Professor Kukui realizes that she is trying to learn Stomp. In a sparkling pink light, Steenee evolves into a Tsareena. Rotom provides information on the new Pokémon, which notes that Tsareena uses its powerful legs against its enemies. As if to demonstrate this, Salandit is suddenly pinned by Tsareena's leg. At Dwayne's command, she performs a Trop Kick, and Salandit is sent flying into a basketball net. Team Skull find themselves outnumbered, and they run away before Dwayne and his friends can unleash their attacks.

Shortly thereafter, Kane, Aisha, and Samara encountered an artist named Mina and her Rimbombee, and Samara demands Mina hand over her Pokémon, and much to their surprise Mina insists that they have a battle, an art battle that is. Mina explains that an art battle involves a Trainer drawing one of their own Pokémon. Thinking it won't be a difficult task, the trio of Grunts agree. Team Skull's Pokémon struggle to maintain their poses, while Mina soon finishes her Ribombee sketch. Samara proudly displays her Garbodor drawing, while Aisha has drawn a cute-faced version of her Zubat, which Mina commends for showing off their respective passions. Kane demands he and Mina reveal their sketches at the same time. Mina's drawing instantly impresses Samara and Aisha. Unfortunately, Kane's line drawing of his Salandit even embarrasses his Pokémon and Mina adds he should pay more attention to detail. Enraged, the Team Skull Grunts throw away their sketchbooks and demand a real battle. Mina expertly catches the drawing books and explains that she was going to call the art battle a draw, but the battle starts.

Salandit launches a Toxic attack, but it is surprisingly intercepted by Poipole. Dwayne runs into the match, and proclaims that a one-on-three match is unfair. Kane calls for another Toxic, while Aisha orders an Air Cutter and Samara's Garbodor goes in for a Venoshock. Mina, with a stern look on her face, has Ribombee throw a Pollen Puff into Zubat's mouth. Mimikyu's Shadow Claw strikes Salandit, and Garbodor is beaten by Poipole's Fury Attack. The Team Skull Grunts recall their Pokémon and run away.

Later, Kane, Aisha, and Samara traveled to Poni Island under Plumeria's orders. They stole radishes from Hapu's field and were using them to lure and capture a number of Sensu Style Oricorio when they encountered Dwayne. They sent their Pokémon out to battle Dwayne, but were stopped when Hapu arrived. Hapu battled Team Skull using her Mudsdale and quickly defeated them. Plumeria showed up, unhappy with their efforts, and ordered them to follow her back. Soon thereafter, Kane and his girlfriends arrived at the Shady House and informed Guzma about Professor Kukui's announcement of the Alola League. Kane then accompanied Guzma, Plumeria, and his girlfriends to Melemele Island, showing up at the Pokémon School to get Kukui's attention.

A month later, Kane and his girlfriends arrived at the Manalo Stadium to try and destroy the Alola League for Guzma's sake without telling him what they were doing. Their efforts were thwarted by Dwayne, Kiawe, Hau, and Gladion, who easily defeated their Pokémon. Afterwards, Guzma and Plumeria arrived and scolded the Grunts for their failure. During the preliminary round, Kane and all of Team Skull's grunts competed in the Battle Royal, but with the exception of Aisha and Samara, were all eliminated by Ilima and his Eevee. Subsequently, Kane spectated the remainder of the tournament, and cheered Guzma on, and was devastated upon his leader's loss against Dwayne. Following his loss, Guzma was ready to disband Team Skull, but Kane and the others were so fired up by the battle that they wanted stay by his side and learn to battle as well as he did.

Character[]

Kane is an antagonistic and unfriendly individual, viewing everybody who wasn't a member of Team Skull as an enemy. Sharing his leader's distaste towards Z-Moves, Kane rejects Alola's traditions and usage of Z-Moves. Much like the rest of Team Skull, Kane enjoys causing trouble to the citizens of Alola, and also engaging in petty crimes, such as property damage and disturbing the peace.

Kane is also quite proud and boastful about his polyamorous relationship with Aisha and Samara, openly describing themselves as a package and claiming everyone else was jealous because he "snatched" the hottest girls in all of Alola. As such, Kane shows great concern about them, seen during Aisha and Samara's battle against each other at the Manalo Conference, where Kane was worried about them having to face each other, wondering if they would be okay with the end result.

Despite his rather decent battling skills, however, Kane is quite clueless about the information regarding Pokémon in general, even towards his own Pokémon, as Kane stated that after many battles, his Salandit was surely close to evolving, despite his Salandit being male and therefore, unable to evolve as only female Salandit were capable of evolving.
