Katrina Brooks (Japanese: ソウ Kusa Burukku) is a Pokémon Trainer who travels with Clarissa Spark, Mason Artemis, and Jax Darksoul. She is a former Kimono Girl that now resides with her friends.
Katrina's special skill is touching the hearts and spirits of Pokémon. As such, she is called the "Spirit" or the "Fool" as Cyrus and Colress describes her.
History[]
Background[]
Katrina was born to Ethan and Christina Brooks at the Sinjoh Ruins. This is due to the fact that Chistina went into labor early at the ruins and Katrina was born on the Giratina section of the Mystri Stage. Her location of birth is hinted to be the reason why she is a Legendary Guardian. Around the age of four, Christina died and Ethan struggled to care for his daughter before dying in an accident. The Kimono Girls saw how Katrina's fate would be a Legendary Guardian and decided to take her in so she wouldn't use her powers for evil. Along the way they grew attached to the young girl and made her an official Kimono Girl.
Katrina is seen as a weak trainer who has no goal unlike Clarissa and Mason. She has no desire to compete in Gym Battles, Contests, Showcases, or other usual things. This makes her appear as someone who is lazy and a tag along with no goal. However unlike many humans she is able to calm the hearts of Pokémon and can bring out their inner power. This is shown when she was able to calm down Giratina in the Distortion World after it was attack by Mason and Clarissa.

During the final showdown in The Distortion World, Katrina calmed down Giratina after Cyrus attacked it. He offered Katrina to use her abilities for Team Galactic and create a new world, which she accepted. Katrina then took his hand and threw both herself and Cyrus off the platforms to their doom. While her friends tried to save Katrina, she ultimately was killed along with Cyrus. Back in the normal world, Clarissa and Mason are devastated and distraught with their friend's death. Arceus then appeared later on and decides to bring Katrina back to life after her sacrifice. Despite being an all powerful Pokémon, Arceus is unable to bring back her severed arm, resulting in Katrina using a prosthetic arm.

Katrina notably has matured but is still the spirit of the group. She has displayed a strong control on her powers and is able to open portals to the world in an area full of high energy when floating in water.

After finding out Clarissa would be taking the test to become The Viridian City Gym Leader, Katrina saw this as being abandoned by her best friend. In order to not be hurt by no one after this, Katrina fled to The Distortion World with all of her Pokémon. Katrina spent almost two years alone in solitude and swore off people. After Benji sent her a message via Aura, she returned to the real world just to help him out. Much to her dismay she met up with Clarissa again and confronted her about leaving her. Clarissa told Katrina that she wasn't leaving her, she just wanted to explore her future and never said to Katrina to leave her. Mason attempted to rekindle his relationship with his former best friend but she shrugged it off, not wanting to risk being heart broken somehow. Later at the Shamouti Festival she had a change of heart upon seeing him turn down Meredith's offer to dance as he wanted to reconnect with Katrina. After this she turn back into her old self and apologized to her friends, The Kimono Girls, and her Pokémon.
The next day she participated in an exhibition battle with Mason against Jax and Clarissa.
Personality[]
Although she can come off as annoying and rude, Katrina is a fairly nice. As a child her mother died and resulted in verbal abuse from her father. Eventually he disowned her and Katrina was taken in by the Kimono Girls. While under the guidance she learned about friendship and bonds that trainer can have with a Pokémon. She also learned a lot about Eeveelutions and caught an Abra with the aid of Sakura. Although she liked the Kimono Girl, Katrina had an intention of becoming a Trainer. It is later shown that when Clarissa and Mason meet the Kimono Girls, they are very proud of Katrina and her achievements. Katrina also comes off as selfish, however she is proven to be very selfless and sacrificed herself and Key Stone to save her friends at one point. She gets flustered when asked if she danced at the Ecruteak Theater because she is embarrassed out it. Katrina also has a motherly approach to Pokémon, something she learned from her childhood. For awhile she treated Bulbasaur like her own child but after he evolved in Sparks: Black and White (over 6 seasons after his debut) she has issues without having a small Pokémon to take care of. Eventually when Jax, Mason, and her start to travel together she is shown to be affectionate with his Pichu. She is the only one other than Jax who he has shown to be loving towards often climbing on her and rubbing against her. She is also the only one who can calm him down when he has a fit from being separated from Jax. Katrina is described as boarder line insane by many due to outbursts, energetic, and spastic personality. Katrina has a strong dislike for Cyrus after he caused Pokémon to go on a rampage and disturbed Giratina. She also holds a grudge against Colress since he tortured and controlled Pokémon for science.
Ever since she was younger, Katrina has shown to not fear certain Pokémon. She has a love for Ghost-Types even if they are known to be dangerous. One example is Dusknoir, the Pokémon who is an abandoned plush doll. Katrina recognizes Dusknoir as the doll she owned as a child but was taken away from her by her father. She showed compassion to the Ghost-Type even though it attacked her and had it join her team.
Katrina is shown to love conspiracy theories and makes them up frequently. She also enjoys bread, peanut butter, and chocolate milk.

Overall Appearance[]
Katrina is a Latino female who stands at 5'8 ft. She has medium length brunette-green hair highlights and green eyes. She has two silver ear studs on both ears, a nose piercing, and a golden hoop. The studs and hoops are made from the materials of The Bell Tower. Additionally wears an green strip of cloth that is tied in the back of her forehead.
As of the end of Sparks: Diamond & Pearl, Katrina now has a silver mechanical arm. Unlike the rest of her body, Arceus was unable to bring back her arm in her resurrection as it was torn off minutes before her death.

Katrina wears a pink vest with a white tank top under. Her shorts a red and she has green boots.
Ruby & Sapphire and The Battle Frontier[]
Katrina changes her outfit to a loose green shirt with a white tank top under. She now wears blue shorts and black boots. In addition to her outfit change, Katrina now has a nose piercing, two studs, and a large hoop earring.
Diamond & Pearl[]
Due to Sinnoh's cold climate, Katrina is forced to wear a warmer outfit. She wears a green sweatshirt, a white shirt, blue jeans, and retains the same black boots from before. After being reborn by Arceus, Katrina gained a tattoo and decided to cut her hair shorter.
Black & White[]
Katrina wears the same outfit she wore in Hoenn with a few minor adjustments.
XYZ[]
Katrina wears a red tank top with a smokey gray vest on top. Her pants feature a floral pattern and she wears brown boots. Her hair grew long but she cut it once more.
Sun & Moon[]
Katrina wears a brown jack over a dark-navy shirt and a blueish-gray shorts.
Eternal Faith[]
Katrina now wears a long green cape, a dark cream shirt, brown leggings, and black boots with gold accents. It is noted that the colors of her shirt and pants are reminiscent of Giratina.
Other Outfits[]
- In Johto during the Ecruteak Festival she wears a light pink Kimono with Poké Ball designs, sandals, and had her hair in an formal hair style. In Eternal Faith she wore a Giratina themed Kimono at the festival to represent being it's guardian.
- In Kalos, Katrina wore a dress to a formal party.
Relationships[]
Clarissa Spark[]
Katrina is no doubt Clarissa's closest friend, tied only with Mason. The two are complete opposites, Clarissa being level headed and Katrina wild. Katrina is also the first person to refer to Clarissa as "Clar".
Mason Artemis[]
Katrina and Mason have an close relationship. The two started out enemies and would fight with each other every chance, driving Clarissa insane. Eventually the two became neutral towards each other and soon best friends. Mason and Katrina have many inside jokes such as "CLARISSA LIKES JAX!" and refers to him "Moose".
Jax Darksoul[]
Katrina and Jax are on friendly terms. Jax enjoys being around Katrina because of her energetic personality. Like with Clar Katrina teases Jax causing the two to get into friendly bickering matches at time. He does however respect her and has stated to enjoy traveling together. Jax also enjoys teasing her about her time as a dancer with the Kimono Girls, usually saying things like watching her dance is like watching a flower come into full bloom. He has stated that unlike other girls that Katrina's cuteness and charm comes from her crude personality much to her embarrassment. Katrina is also a huge Clax (Jax and Clarissa) shipper much to his embarrassment. During the point in time where Clarissa was petrified, Katrina comforted Jax

Katrina is shown to like Jane but has a fear of her. Never less she holds a lot of respect for Jane.
Henry Grayson[]
Katrina and Henry are shown to be hostile towards each other.
Reina Mitchell[]
Katrina met Reina when she was dead in The Distortion World. Reina's spirit came to her and kept her safe and sane. Reina helped Katrina regain control of her body and defeat Kineve. Katrina is not aware Reina is Jane's mother as she refers to her as a "Voice of Life" and kept the name to herself.
Abilities[]
Katrina has the ability to open up portals to The Distortion World due to being connected to Giratina. Due to this she was sought by Team Galactic. She is also unable to truly die in The Distortion World because she will always be able to regenerate.
Katrina herself is able to is able to open portals to the world in an area full of high energy when floating in water. She has gained a strong control on her powers overtime but refrains from using them because it takes a toll on her body.
In her own personal skills, Katrina possesses the ability to calm down Pokémon. She is a dancer as she performs with her sisters.

These Pokémon can be called upon if needed. One of the reasons Katrina captured them is because she holds the role of being a Legendary Guardian. A Legendary Guardian is someone who makes sure the Pokémon aren't disturbed by Evil Organizations or other issues.
