New Mewtwo (Japanese: 新ミュウツー Shin Mewtwo) is a Legendary Pokémon created by Dr. Abi with the DNA samples of not only Mew, but also hundreds of other Pokémon in an attempt to make it superior to the original Mewtwo.

New Era[]

Clash of Clones[]

At a laboratory in the middle of the ocean in a place called New Island, a group of scientists are working on their latest project, and inside a tank, the still-immature Mewtwo is floating, unconscious, with the Scientists commenting that this Mewtwo will become the strongest Pokémon in the world, and even surpass the original Mewtwo. Elsewhere in the laboratory, the lead scientist, Dr. Abi, talks with a mysterious figure, who orders her to complete Mewtwo's creation within a month, otherwise the funding on her expedition would be cancelled, and Dr. Abi promises that the deadline would be met. Two weeks later, Mewtwo slowly matures, and in its sleep, it states that it feels like it has been asleep for what seems like forever. Upon gaining consciousness, a confused Mewtwo asks itself who it is, what it is, and where it came from. Just then, Mewtwo fully wakes up in a stasis tube in one of Abi's laboratories, and Abi appears and calms Mewtwo down. She names it and New Mewtwo immediately questions its title of "new", and Abi explains that it was the second Mewtwo created, and explains that much like the original, it was created from the DNA sample of Mew. However, unlike the original, which only possessed Mew's DNA, New Mewtwo also had the genetic samples of hundreds of other Pokémon as secondary genetic sources, and Abi shows recorded footages of the original Mewtwo. Upon noticing the original Mewtwo's voice, New Mewtwo questions its own voice, and notes that the original Mewtwo's voice was masculine, while New Mewtwo's voice was feminine, and Abi explains that the first genetic sample that they used after Mew was from a Nidoqueen, a female-only Pokémon, and since that was the first DNA sample used, it became the primary one, thus explaining New Mewtwo's feminine voice.

New Mewtwo begins questioning it's purpose to exist, and Abi truthfully explains that she was forced to create it by the leader of Team Ultimate Rocket, who calls himself Rixon. Abi explains that the original Team Rocket created the original Mewtwo, but it went rogue, and Rixon, a member of the original organization, grew fascinated with the idea of creating his own Pokémon, and after creating the successor organization, hired Abi to create an improved version of Mewtwo, and Abi admits that she was reluctant, but Rixon's promises to fund her lifelong-desired global expedition made her discard any hesitation she had, and apologizes to New Mewtwo for bringing to the world for such evil purposes. New Mewtwo then asks Abi what it would happen, and Abi says that Rixon wouldn't arrive for another two weeks, and Abi says that she would take care of New Mewtwo as kindly as possible until Rixon arrived, and says that once they arrived, New Mewtwo might have more than enough power to escape and live its life freely. Throughout the next two weeks, Abi and New Mewtwo bond despite their grim situation, and Abi remains their relationship hidden, under the pretense that she was experimenting on New Mewtwo when she was in actuality treating the Legendary Pokémon with care to comfort it. Once Rixon and his organizarion arrive, Abi welcomes them and leads them to New Mewtwo's room, where the Legendary Pokémon was apparently sleeping inside the tank. However, it was a ruse, as Abi and New Mewtwo had planned to have New Mewtwo fake unconsciousness, and once the tank was opened, New Mewtwo would attack Rixon and Team Ultimate Rocket, and escape from the laboratory. However, as Abi was heading to open the tank, she gets her abdomen pierced by a Horn Attack from Rixon's Rhydon. Abi's cries of pain immediately alert New Mewtwo, who opens its eyes, and Rixon reveals that he knew all along about their plans, as the other Scientists were spying on Abi and New Mewtwo's talks, and reported them to Rixon, and claimed that Abi was pathetic to try and betray him. As Abi lays on the floor, bleeding heavily from the attack, New Mewtwo breaks out of the tank with a powerful Confusion attack and says that Rixon would pay for what he did. Rixon, however, exclaims that New Mewtwo's power was still incomplete, therefore Rixon would be able to defeat it and place it under his control. However, Abi pulls one final trump card and pulls a small remote from her labcoat, and pushes a button, and several machines emerge from the walls, and they all fire beams of energy towards New Mewtwo, which engulfs its body, and dramatically increases New Mewtwo's power, shocking Rixon and the others, and Abi explains that while she didn't expect them to know about their plans, she always had a backup plan for everything, and apologizes to New Mewtwo for not informing it beforehand, but New Mewtwo says that she had nothing to apologize for, and simply tells her to hang on as it would take her to safety after dealing with Rixon and Team Ultimate Rocket.

However, Abi says that her injuries were too severe already, and New Mewtwo wouldn't be able to save her, and all of her work on New Mewtwo was on the laboratory, and if Rixon got his hands on them, another Mewtwo could be created for his personal gain, and pleads for New Mewtwo to destroy the laboratory. New Mewtwo refuses, saying that Abi would get caught in the explosion, but Abi says that her fate was already sealed, and screams out, begging New Mewtwo to destroy the laboratory before Rixon retrieved everything she had on Mewtwo. After some thought, New Mewtwo agrees, and while shedding tears, New Mewtwo unleashes a powerful Psychic attack that engulfs the entire laboratory and begins destroying the machines, causing a series of explosions, and as the explosions begin destroying the laboratory, Abi thanks New Mewtwo for granting her final request before closing her eyes as the explosions engulf her, killing her instantly, which New Mewtwo witnesses, who closes its eyes shut and clutches its fist, telling Abi to forgive it. However, Rixon and the other Scientists survive the explosions, as Rixon's Rhydon uses Protect around himself and the Scientists to block the explosions, before fleeing the island on a helicopter. After Team Ultimate Rocket escapes, New Mewtwo stands alone on the remains of New Island, and questions its purpose and reason for living. Seeing Abi's burning labcoat, New Mewtwo sheds another tear, and says that Abi was the only human to show compassion and kindness, and comes to the conclusion that all other humans would only seek its power for their own personal gains, and decides to learn as much as possible about Pokémon Trainers. After New Mewtwo rebuilds the laboratory and establishes a base there, New Mewtwo spends several months watching recordings from several Trainers, and assumes that the Pokémon were being forced to fight against their will, and decides to lure the strongest Trainers he could find to New Island to defeat them and eliminate them all in one place.

Sometime later, New Mewtwo witnessed the Double Battle between Dwayne and Jade against two Trainers through a Fearow armed with a camera, and New Mewtwo decides to invite both Dwayne and Jade to New Island, deeming them powerful Trainers. Following New Mewtwo's orders, its Dragonite delivers a hologram message to Dwayne and Jade of a mysterious woman who tells the Trainers to head to Old Shore Wharf in order to embark on a ferry towards New Island in order to participate in a tournament against the self-proclaimed world's strongest Pokémon Trainer, which both Dwayne and Jade immediately agree. In preparation for the event, New Mewtwo uses its psychic powers to create a powerful thunderstorm and whips up the seas, wanting to test the Trainer's toughness, as well as a way to eliminate any Trainers who aren't capable of facing the storm. The massive disturbance also captures the original Mewtwo's attention, who leaves Pokémon Village in the Kalos region to head for New Island. When the Trainers who arrived at the island are gathered together, the lights suddenly dim and New Mewtwo makes a grand entrance, floating down the castle's double-helix staircase to greet its guests. New Mewtwo's attendant reveals that this is the world's greatest Trainer and Pokémon, New Mewtwo. Fern declares that a Pokémon cannot be a Trainer and says New Mewtwo's claims are outrageous. Using telepathy, New Mewtwo has its attendant speak for it. Fern protests, so New Mewtwo uses Psychic to toss him into the pool. Undeterred, Fern orders his Gyarados attack with Hyper Beam. New Mewtwo effortlessly blocks the attack with Protect and retaliates with Shadow Ball, knocking Gyarados back into the pool. New Mewtwo also releases his attendant from its Psychic manipulation, which also confirms Jade's suspicions that she is the missing Nurse Joy. Using its telepathy to speak, New Mewtwo explains that it used Confusion to remain in control of her, because it required Nurse Joy for her specialized Pokémon knowledge, and she will have no memory of the events.

New Mewtwo explains that the world are ruled by humans, which is problematic because people are inherently controlling and says that it would use its powers to take control of the world and maintain order and keep both humans and Pokémon at peace with the threat of its power. Dwayne's Gardevoir rebutes such comments, and explains that humans and Pokémon form friendships, but New Mewtwo is disgusted by such feelings and telepathically tosses Gardevoir aside, only for Dwayne to break her fall. Haider steps up, calling for his Piloswine to attack with Horn Attack. New Mewtwo defends itself by sending Piloswine flying across the banquet table with Focus Punch. Dwayne notes that New Mewtwo used five moves, something that no Pokémon should be able to do, and New Mewtwo explains that because of the DNA samples of countless Pokémon that were used for its creation, New Mewtwo can effortlessly learn a variety of different attacks at any point it wishes, allowing it to remain with the upper hand at all times. With this, New Mewtwo claims to be the strongest Pokémon, and Dwayne suggests it prove itself. New Mewtwo arrogantly asks if Dwayne was challenging him, and Dwayne angrily confirms. Smirking at this, New Mewtwo gladly accepts, and the lights dim yet again before revealing New Mewtwo's personal battle stadium.

Dwayne asks if New Mewtwo was ready to battle them, but New Mewtwo says that they wouldn't battle it just yet, and uses its Psychic powers to create a tunnel, in which a Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur emerge from, and New Mewtwo explains that these Pokémon were mistreated and abandoned by selfish Trainers, and New Mewtwo promised them freedom and newfound happiness in their new world, and says they weren't the only ones in the island, and tells the Trainers to select their Pokémon. Haider, Ness, and Lazuli take up New Mewtwo's challenge, with Haider and Ness calling upon on their own Venusaur and Blastoise, while Lazuli uses Electivire. Everyone makes their way over to the stadium, though New Mewtwo's starter trio emerge victorious over their respective opponents, with New Mewtwo explaining that it used its Psychic powers and the laboratory's technology to enhance the trio's abilities. New Mewtwo proceeds to catch Haider's Venusaur, Ness's Blastoise, and Lazuli's Elecitivre in its own special Mewtwo Balls. Jade wonders what New Mewtwo's intentions of "stealing" other people's Pokémon could be, and New Mewtwo insists it plans to create an army of superior Pokémon with its powers and experiments. Dwayne orders Mewtwo to stop, though New Mewtwo reiterates that it makes the rules and pushes Dwayne away with its Psychic powers, causing him to collide onto Lazuli. New Mewtwo summons more Balls, sending everyone into a panic as they try to save their Pokémon from being caught. Fern's Pokémon are all captured with ease, follows by most of Haider's and Ness's teams. Haider's Unfezant tries to out-speed the Balls with Quick Attack, but is also caught. Dwayne recalls Infernape and Salamence to their Poké Balls, but this also proves useless as the Poké Balls themselves get "recalled" inside the Mewtwo Balls. Lazuli and Nurse Joy reach the doors, though Lazuli's Pokémon are soon taken. Gardevoir remains the last standing, but she is also captured while trying to escape up the spiral staircase. Dwayne leaps for Gardevoir, and grips onto the Ball, but it manages to get away. Dwayne, however, does slide down one of the hidden entrances as it carried off with the Mewtwo Balls into the underground laboratory. Dwayne rushes into the machine to save Gardevoir and wrestles with the machine's mechanical arms, causing it to spark as he manages to rescue Gardevoir. Gardevoir emerges from the Ball unscathed and happily leaps into Dwayne's embrace. The machine suddenly explodes, releasing all of the captured Pokémon from the Mewtwo Balls, reuniting Dwayne with Infernape and Salamence as well.

New Mewtwo assures the humans it has no intention of harming them. It even offers them the chance to leave, however with the storm still raging, no one considers it an option. An explosion occurs, and Dwayne, leading the Pokémon, come out from the hole in the ground to face New Mewtwo much to the relief of the others. Dwayne declares that he will protect his Pokémon, but New Mewtwo coldly exclaims that Dwayne's words are empty, and his beliefs would slowly die as time passed, and charges a Zap Cannon and fires at Dwayne. While the others yell at Dwayne to dodge, an explosion occurs and everyone assumes Dwayne was struck, and Jade panics and looks for him, but as the smoke clears, Dwayne is nowhere to be seen. Ness calls for everyone to look to the stands, and they see that Dwayne was rescued by Gardevoir via Teleport. When Ness comments about Gardevoir's fierce protection of Dwayne, Jade explains that Gardevoir possesses an extreme attachment towards Dwayne, and because of that, she could also sense his emotions, and as well as being able to share them. Jade also explains that Gardevoir could instinctively sense whenever Dwayne was in mortal danger, and when Ness questions as to how Gardevoir can know this with basic instinct, Jade simply says that Gardevoir deeply loved Dwayne to the point where just the mere realization that his life was in danger was enough to allow Gardevoir to track down his location and protect him. Overhearing this explanation, New Mewtwo quietly ponders on whether Gardevoir and Dwayne truly cared for each other, and begins doubting its beliefs, but forces itself to shake them off and reassures itself that their bond was only temporary and attacks them with Shadow Ball, but Gardevoir grabs Dwayne and Teleports themselves away.

New Mewtwo becomes frustrated with Gardevoir's interference, and decides to lure her out and changes its aim towards Lazuli and the others and charges up its Shadow Ball attack, and fires it off. Suddenly, the attack gets redirected by an incoming Psywave attack. As everyone looks towards the sky, they see another Mewtwo looking down on them, and New Mewtwo becomes shocked at it's sudden arrival. Everyone becomes confused, and Dwayne explains that the Mewtwo that just arrived is a friend of his father's, and Mewtwo confirms this. Mewtwo confronts New Mewtwo, and says that it used to be just like New Mewtwo, distrustful of humans and believing they were vile creatures, but it quickly learned that while there were indeed many evil and selfish humans in the world, there were likewise many good-natured, kind, and caring Trainers who genuinely loved their Pokémon, and urges New Mewtwo to try and look at humans for their good deeds instead of their bad ones, but New Mewtwo rebuffs New Mewtwo's comments, saying the only human it cared about is gone, and therefore it had nothing and nobody else, and would rule the world to eliminate the people responsible, and Dwayne says that this wasn't what New Mewtwo said earlier about wanting to bring peace, and New Mewtwo exclaims that it lied, as it only wanted revenge on the people who killed it's "mother" and would stop at nothing, believing that if humans were willing to kill other humans, then they were meant to be eliminated at all costs and fires off a Hyper Beam, which Mewtwo dodges. New Mewtwo commends it's counterpart on it's speed, but taunts Mewtwo, sarcastically asking if it could copy it's next ability, and New Mewtwo demonstrates being capable of Mega Evolving into Mega Mewtwo Y without the need of a Key Stone, much to everyone's shock, except Mewtwo's. Mewtwo flies over to Dwayne and tosses him a Key Stone, and Mewtwo asks him for assistance, and Dwayne realizes that Mewtwo wants Dwayne to Mega Evolve him, and Dwayne does so, evolving Mewtwo into Mega Mewtwo X.

The two Mewtwo's begin exchanging blows while everyone else spectates in complete awe. Dwayne tells Gardevoir to Teleport them next to the others, which she does so, and Dwayne says that the two Mewtwo's power could destroy the entire island if the battle continued for too long. Both Mewtwo's Mega Evolutions run out due to exhaustion, and they drop down back to the battlefield in their knees due to exhaustion, and New Mewtwo begins charging an oversized Shadow Ball, which Dwayne notes that it would blow up the entire island, along with everyone in it, if connected, and Mewtwo begins charging up its own Shadow Ball, but gets joined by Gardevoir, Ness's Umbreon, and Haider's Yamask, all who also charge up their Shadow Balls to assist Mewtwo. Seeing this, New Mewtwo becomes enraged and launches the oversized Shadow Ball, but the combined efforts of the four Pokémon manage to prevent the giant Shadow Ball from hitting, although it causes a massive explosion that knocks out all of the stadium's lights and knocks everyone off their feets, both humans and Pokémon alike, except for both Mewtwo's. As everyone lies around, hurt and scared, Dwayne looks around, horrified at the sight in front of him. Both Mewtwo's prepare to exchange devastating blows, and Dwayne rushes between them to intervene. The attacks hit, and consequently turn Dwayne to stone. New Mewtwo is taken aback that a human would try to stop the battle while Mewtwo is horrified that it possibly caused Dwayne's demise. As Dwayne lies motionless, Gardevoir rushes over to check on him, but he is unresponsive, while Lazuli, Raven, Jade, and everyone else are stunned at the sight of Dwayne's supposed demise, with Lazuli and Jade specifically holding back tears. Gardevoir tries one Psyshock after another, but her attempts are all in vain. Gardevoir begins to tear up and cry aloud, fearing her Trainer is now gone. The other Pokémon are also drawn to tears by this, and New Mewtwo becomes surprised at how all of the Pokémon are sharing the same grief, and Mewtwo explains that humans and Pokémon are all members of the same planet, and while there are humans who are evil and treat Pokémon like tools, there are humans like Dwayne, who treat Pokémon with love and care.

New Mewtwo begins showing regret of it's actions, and Mewtwo urges New Mewtwo to help restore Dwayne back to normal, and both Mewtwo's combine their Psychic powers and engulf Dwayne's body, with Mewtwo theorising that since their Psychic powers were what turned Dwayne to stone, they could turn him back to normal. After some great efforts, both Mewtwo's manage to revert the effects of their attacks, and Dwayne gets back to normal, and Gardevoir immediately hugs her Trainer in happiness, crying onto his chest, while Dwayne apologizes for his recklessness. After witnessing all of this, New Mewtwo realizes that it does not matter who is more powerful, and that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant: it is what one does with life that determines one's destiny, something that Mewtwo agrees, and both Mewtwo's use their Psychic powers to carry all of the Pokémon that New Mewtwo had rescued along with them, and when Dwayne asks New Mewtwo where it was going, New Mewtwo replies that he was going somewhere where it's heart can learn what Dwayne's heart knew full well, and would find a place where it and it's Pokémon friends can live in peace. New Mewtwo also thanks Dwayne and the other Trainers for helping it see that it's actions were wrong, and while it flies away, New Mewtwo silently asks if Dr. Abi was watching over them and if she was proud of her creation.

Personality and Characteristics[]

When New Mewtwo first awakened, it immediately questioned its purpose in the world. During its first meeting with Dr. Abi, who answered New Mewtwo's questions truthfully and honestly, New Mewtwo quickly became comfortable around the scientist, realizing that she truly cared about its well-being rather than simply viewing New Mewtwo as a tool or project. However, upon seeing Dr. Abi being mortally wounded, and subsequently being forced to end Dr. Abi's life to not only end her suffering, but also prevent Rixon and Team Ultimate Rocket from getting access to New Mewtwo's files to prevent them from creating any future copies of it, New Mewtwo developed an intense sense of misanthropy, viewing all humans as selfish and vile creatures, and believing that Dr. Abi, the only human it genuinely cared about was now gone, all other humans were worthless.

Growing more comfortable with its power, New Mewtwo quickly became confident in its status as stronger than any known Pokémon in existence, including its original template, and went as far as proclaiming itself the world's strongest Pokémon Trainer despite being a Pokémon itself. Wrongfully believing that Pokémon were being forced to battle against their will, New Mewtwo refused to accept that Pokémon and humans could form genuine friendships, angrily rebuffing any words that contradicted it, including from Pokémon themselves, seen when New Mewtwo angrily sent Dwayne's Gardevoir flying when the latter declared herself as Dwayne's friend. When facing off against its original template, New Mewtwo found itself completely enraged at its original's pacifist views and opposite mindset, and its anger completely clouded its judgement, causing New Mewtwo to prepare an over-sized Shadow Ball that would destroy all of New Island, along with everyone in it, as well as the Pokémon that New Mewtwo had previously rescued, with New Mewtwo having lost all common sense due to it's rage. Only when Dwayne seemingly sacrificed himself to stop the fight between New Mewtwo and its original template, and seeing all of the Pokémon sharing the same grief of witnessing the young Trainer's apparent sacrifice, along with Mewtwo's words, New Mewtwo finally saw the error of its ways, and alongside Mewtwo, used it's psychic powers to restore Dwayne back to normal, before thanking the young Trainer for showing it that its methods were wrong before flying away along with Mewtwo and its Pokémon friends in search of a place in which they could live in peace.

Despite being a genderless Pokémon, New Mewtwo possesses a feminine voice, unlike the original Mewtwo, who had a masculine voice, with Dr. Abi explaining that this was due to New Mewtwo's first secondary genetic sample coming from a Nidoqueen, a female-only Pokémon, and the feminine voice was the result due to Nidoqueen's female genetics becoming the primary genetics for the secondary sources of Pokémon for New Mewtwo's creation.
