"Pull" is the fifth chapter of the Pokémon Eclipse story, and is the fourth chapter of the Melemele Arc.

Plot[]

In Equestria that evening, Twilight obsessively watches over the Cutie Map, uncertain of when the islands will reappear upon it. Starlight, wanting Twilight to not be alone, invites their other friends: the unicorn Rarity, the pegasi Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, and the earth ponies Applejack and Pinkie Pie. As they eat dinner, Twilight explains the situation with the islands and the Cutie Map to them. Despite the chances of the islands reappearing again that night being low, Twilight's friends choose to stay over in the unlikely event that they do.

On Melemele Island, Sam and Alice travel through Route 2 and pass Verdant Cavern, the sole Melemele trial site. They are soon greeted by the trial's captain, Ilima, who informs the duo that he closes the trial site by nightfall. After Sam informs him that they are still out trying to catch more Pokémon, Ilima directs them to Melemele Meadow, saying there should be enough daylight to spend some time before it gets too dark. Sam and Alice make their way there shortly after.

At the Aether Paradise, Sun is brought in to start the second excursion, mirroring the events of the prologue.

Twilight and her friends engage in friendly chat, Spike suddenly noticing Alola returning to the surface of the Cutie Map. As Spike begins penning a letter to Princess Celestia, the image of Alola enlarges slightly, something Twilight notes has never happened. The image continues zooming down, focusing onto the Aether Paradise building until the border of the observation pool inside reaches the border of the Cutie Map. At that moment, a force flings Twilight and her friends against the wall, knocking Celestia's letter out of Spike's hand, where it falls through the table, which has now become a weak wormhole. Twilight tries to escape with her friends via a teleportation spell, only to find that she is now unable to. The force of the wormhole inexplicably becomes strong enough to nearly suck everyone in. Two by two, the ponies are unable to resist the pull and get themselves sucked in. After barely managing to send a desperate cry for help to Celestia via another letter, Twilight and Spike state their love for each other before they too are thrust into the wormhole.
