"The Long Float Down" is the fifty-eighth chapter of the Pokémon Eclipse story, and is the twelfth chapter of the Ula'ula Arc.

Sam and Alice are awakened the next morning with the news of Hau's assault, Burnet's capture, and Faba's escape through a video call with Hau. He informs Sam, Alice, and their group of Equestrians that he and his group of Equestrians will be off toward Malie City on the eastern side of the island with the intention to meet altogether at the Malie Gardens. Before they leave, Molayne takes Sam, Alice, Starlight, and Lady down to a room containing a copy of every TM available on Alola, allowing them to use them for their Pokémon to make them as strong as possible. Upon exiting, Sam and Alice are also given a Steelium Z and a Flyinium Z from Molayne and Kahili to help them further. In order to avoid being spotted, Molayne calls over a wild Drampa to quickly escort Sam, Alice, and most of their friends down Mount Lanakila toward Malie City, the Pokémon taking an instant liking to Sam.
On Celaeno's airship in Equestria, everyone on board is ambushed by a changeling horde, including several who disguised themselves as hippogriffs so that they could come with Skystar and spy on the group. The changelings then reveal their knowledge about Twilight and her friends going missing, but claim to not know where. A fight ensues, and the changelings' large numbers prove to be too strong for the other passengers. With no options left, Fizzlepop casts a powerful spell that incapacitates all nearby changelings at once, though her crown is broken and the supports to Celeano's ship are destroyed. With the ship in free fall, Starswirl, Mistmane, and Stygian barely manage to land the ship safely, saving everyone on board but greatly damaging the hull in the process. The others acknowledge that Fizzlepop chose an option that would also cause the least amount of damage to Celaeno's ship, leading Celaeno to thank Fizzlepop for saving her crew and the other passengers. With no other mode of transportation, the group gathers their things and makes their way to Canterlot on foot.
