Biography[]

As Bulbasaur[]

Kanto[]

Bulbasaur was one of 3 starters at Oak's Lab waiting to be chosen. Poli chose it while Blue chooses Charmander.

Bulbasaur later battles Charmander in friendly 1v1 and is defeated by Ember. Poli's Poliwag wants to battle Charmander, but Bulbasaur drags Poliwag away from the leaving Blue to reduce chaos.

Bulbasaur is the first Pokemon used to battle Brock. He goes up against Geodude and is able to beat it with Vine Whip. He then struggles against Onix for a bit before learning Razor Leaf to beat Onix.

Bulbasaur is used to move boulders around Mount Moon and runs into a friendly Zubat who it battles and draws with. During which, Bulbasaur was revealed to have learnt Strength at some point.

Bulbasaur was used to battle Misty's Gyarados and manages to ground it with Strength and barely evade a Hyper Beam, which his bulb absorbs and fire back as solar Beam to beat Gyarados.

Bulbasaur later has a rematch with his rival, who had evolved into Charmeleon already. Bulbasaur uses its unique method of charging Solar Beam to make up for taking so many hits, but eventually draws with Charmeleon.

Bulbasaur was later used to battle Erika's Victreebel. He manages to down Victreebel with Strength, but loses to Venusaur after duelling it with Solar Beam.

Bulbasaur later battle Koga's Venomoth the same way Ash's did. He later battles Sabrina's Alakazam and manages to hit it with sleep Powder, but was defeated by Sleep talk. He also whips Poli's Snorlax for its disobedience.

Bulbasaur surprisingly was used against Blaine's Magmar. Although at a type disadvantage, he overcomes Magmar with Strength and razor Leaf. It is later downed by Arcanine.

Bulbasaur defeats Giovanni's Nidoking after a long struggle, and then faints due to exhaustion.

Bulbasaur defeats Lorelei’s Jynx by slamming it into the wall after binding it with strength. He later battles Slowbro and loses to a Super effective psychic. Bulbasaur later battles Bruno’s Onix and wins, but is downed by Machoke’s Fire Punch. He llater battles Agatha’s Weezing and learns Petal Blizzard, defeating Weezing with it. It was able to weaken Gengar slightly before being beat by shadow punch. Finally, Bulbaasur was able to defeat LancE’s Aerodactyl despite being grounded, using Petal Blizzard to boost himself upwards and crush it with Strength, but loses to Dragonite.

Bulbasaur was the penultimate Pokémon Poli used against Blue’s Mega Charizard X. Although at a serious disadvantage, cheers from Melmetal, Beedrill and Poliwag give him the courage to battle . Bulbasaur manages to strip Charizard of its mega stone with strength and forces it to revert. On a more even playing field. Bulbasaur holds its own against Charizard’s flamethrowers, and despite being burnt, manages to beat Charizard. Bulbasaur was sent to rest as Poliwag took its place.

Sinnoh[]

As he had agreed to battle Gardenia with Grass types only, Poli had to recall him along with Meganium to back up Turtwig. He was used to battle her Roserade, and is confounded by the graceful movements of the Bouquet pokemon. Still, he tries to focus on Rooserade and hit it with Razor Leaf, before striking it with a newly learnt Feint attack, koing it. When she sent out Cherubi, Bulbasaur struggled to hit the cherry pokemmon with Feint attack as the speed gap was way too big, causing him to lose to a Seed Bomb.

Afterwards, Bulbasaur decides to stay on the team.

At the Valley Windworks, he and lila's Turtwig battle several team Galactic Grunts that induced the latter to evolve. He later battles fantina's Gastly and was able to hit it with Fein attack, OHKOing it. When Haunter was deployed, Bulbasaur was switched to Grotle.

Bulbasaur was used to battle Cyrus’ Gyarados and Houndoom, and takes advantage of their infatuation to hit them with vine whip. However, this wound up snapping them out, and while Lopunny is hurt protecting him, Bulbasaur evolves to repay the favor.

As Ivysaur[]

Upon evolving, Ivysaur was revealed to have learnt Bullet Seed, which he uses to barrage Gyarados and Houndoom and allow Lopunny to defeat the latter with Return. He then uses Strength to grab Gyarados and body slam the atrocious Pokémon on the ground, defeating it. He was then defeated by Broznong’s Psychic.

While fighting Cyrus again in the Distortion World, Ivysaur evolved again into Venusaur.

As Venusaur[]

Sinnoh[]

Upon evolution, he had learned Frenzy Plant. He revealed to own a Venusaurite which was found by Steelix, this allowed him to Mega Evolve into Mega Venusaur, with full control of its Mega Evolution, it halved the damaged from Houndoom's Flamethrower due to its Thick Fat Ability, and defeating it with Earth Power.

Later, Venusaur battles Origin Forme Giratina but is defeated by Shadow Force. He later redeems himself battling Candice's ice types, managing to steamroll most of them with Earth Power, but struggles against Abomasnow, which proved too much for his ability to withstand and is defeated by Hammer Arm.

Venusaur later battles Lila's Torterra in the quarter finals of the Lily of the Valley Conference and defeats it with Solar Beam, but he also faints himself due to overexertion.

Kalos[]

Venusaur was seen splitting up a quarrel between Chesnaught and Samurott while Poli was deciding on who to use for his battle with Alain. He was then used to battle Alain’s mega Charizard X as Poli’s last Pokemon. Using his ability, he was able to survive a Blast Burn without getting scorched badly. He then quickly lashes out at Charizard with Power Whip and restricts its movements. When it tried to use Flamethrower, Venusaur fired a Seed Bomb in its mouth, causing Charizard to be koed by the implosion.

Personality[]

Bulbasaur is a a very mature Pokemon, often the one who manages disputes among the party members. Even though he may lack in battle prowess, he still tries his best for his Trainer. His influence also caused Meganium to develop a similar personality.

Bulbasaur and Blue's Charmander are best friends turned rivals. Even after their first match ended in a loss for Bulbasaur, they still shook hands afterwards. Much like Poliwag, Bulbasaur does not want to evolve for the same reasons of fearing disobedience.

Eventually, he musters up the courage to evolve into Ivysaur in Sinnoh, and has become much stronger as a result. He still maintains his maturity, but is not as weak as he used to be. He also retained its maturity upon its evolution into Venusaur, whenever he sees a fight, he would use its Vine Whip to separate them and later try to reason with both parties.
