The Saga Adventures are the group of stories written by me. Currently, two stories are written/being written. The main characters in each story are Ethan Goldman, Lyra Soulstice and Silver Cryster, with other characters added along the journey timelines.

Creation: Notions[]

The Saga stories were first formed in the mind of the author approximately four weeks before the games HeartGold and SoulSilver were released in North America. The ideas that were first created were that Krisand Gold would be the main characters, however, the idea of Kris was dumped when Lyra sounded like a better character and the name Gold was ditched after Hibiki's English name, Ethan, was revealed. The two characters had just been formed.

Another one of the first ideas was that Ethan lived in New Bark Town while Lyra lived in Azalea Town and Ethan would be on his own until then. After that thought, the idea of them both living in the same town was thought of, and Lyra would go with Ethan from the get-go, they would form a relationship, but Lyra would then leave the duo when they reached Goldenrod City. However, this was thrown away after the idea of Lyra was more prominently known.

Ethan's previous starter was Totodile, which would then make the story unique from the Anime and Manga, Pokemon Adventures, but Cyndaquil seemed to fit him. Lyra's original starter was Cyndaquil, but after EthanxCyndaquil was thought up, it was permanently Chikorita.

The final beta images of HGSS: Johto Saga were that Silver would be Ethan's step-brother, but when the compadability test was worked out, the idea failed, due to communication error, with the difference, and the differences were not needed in brotherhood at that point. HGSS: Johto Saga entered its writing stages.

Creation: Pre-Writing[]

Some pre-writing thoughts were tossed around, like some of the Gym Leaders being replaced, the order of the towns and the state of peace the Johto Region was in. Team Rocket was almost replaced with a new team, scrap name being called Team Platoon, but that didn't work out right. It would also take away from the basis of HeartGold and SoulSilver being what the story was based upon.

Lyra almost didn't have a Marill because the writer thought it was rather strange for her to have Marill and Chikorita when Ethan and Lyra met in Violet City, but Marill was put in anyway, since she appeared earlier when the duo met.

Ethan and Lyra were originally going to start traveling together in Goldenrod City, the place where they were supposed to split away from each other, but Violet City seemed pretty early and since Lyra's character was liked from the beginning, it was a good idea to have her sooner than later.

Brandon and May came VERY close to not making it into the story. They were just random characters that the author thought of, and it seemed like a good place to add them at the time, so their ideas were not scrapped. Wally, however, was a previous possibility, but when the roster seemed like it would be too dense, Wally was scrapped.

The only other things that almost weren't, was Natalie's winning of the Grand Festival and Jim's collection of Gym Badges. First, the author wanted a reason for Lyra to go to another region (which would eventually then lead up to her being in Sinnoh) so she could stay apart of the story, so Natalie won the Grand Festival instead of Lyra. Second, the idea of Jim collecting badges SERIOUSLY just popped into the author's head as Ethan, Lyra and Jim were heading to Juniper Island for the competitions, and there weren't enough rivals for the Johto League Competition for Ethan to battle.

Reception[]

The HGSS Series has pretty much received fair reviews and comments on the stories. With Johto Sagas popularity, Sinnoh Saga has already gained double the popularity the Johto Saga had when it was at the point Sinnoh is at currently.

There have been scarce reviews of dislike of the content, but there have been some.

Here are some examples of comments left on the Johto Saga: (Some were fixed mainly because of grammar, but that is the only thing fixed and/or recreated from these comments)

This is really good! You are very talented!-Reviewer98

Awesome story, I am so excited for Sinnoh! I hope you do it fast cuz I love Sinnoh! And you might get ideas from me, here are some: Ethan and Jim get a starter, they travel together, and Ethan becomes Sinnoh`s champion then he goes to hoenn and Lyra comes with him.-ts- dee-dee''
GO FOR IT! :)

Ok, I know you want to make a new little Johto story, but this is overdone. Over the past couple of months I have seen too many of these. I didnt even bother to read it because I am not interested in unoriginal, overdone, hgss stories.-FoxAzul (This one actually makes me wonder why he was browsing Johto Pokemon Stories in the first place -_-)

Great story!-Son Gokua

awesome first chapter!
is that a glimpse of heartgoldshipping in there :D?-UltraWonderBoy

HGSS: The Sinnoh Saga has received the same types of reviews, with no harsh critisisms. Here are examples of reviews left on HGSS: The Sinnoh Saga as of yet:

I liked this chapter, It was pretty good. One thing I have to say is maybe you could expand a bit more with the length of the chapters and the detail of everything in them. You could make them so that each chapter starts ot slow, but something happens and it takes a decently long time to escape the situation. If you want to keep it short then say stuff like "After about an hour of walking" or "An hour or so later". Just try to make the chapters longer and way more detailed. I still love' the fic, though! :) keep it up!-bbarlitt123'Another great chapter. Keep up the great work, I can't wait for chapter 3.-The Zorua

good chapter man im working on my story but no where near done yet-cpdx

Stories[]

There are three stories either in production, out of production or in a tentative state.

HGSS: Johto Saga is the first story in the trilogy, and is based upon Ethan Goldman and friends traveling around the Johto trying the become the best they can be. The plotline to this story was Ethan's goal to become a Pokemon Master by facing struggles and befriending his Pokemon, and Lyra Soulstice's goal of becoming the Top Coordinator by performing well and polishing her Pokemon's abilities with compassion. The theme of the story is 'never give up until your goal is realized--if you or it is shot down, get back up and try again and again.'

HGSS: The Sinnoh Saga is the sequel, and the second story, in the trilogy. It follows where the Johto Saga left off in the journey, two days after Ethan and friend Jim Voletta departed from the Sinnoh Region. It is currently following the plotline of Ethan, Jim, Dawn Sinclair and Cody Myne venturing the Sinnoh Region with their separate goals and challenges, facing enemies and friends. The theme of the story is 'friends are always there for you, and you should always believe in them and yourself.'

HGSS: The Isshu Saga is currently a story in nothing more than a tentative state. It is possible this story will become a true thing, but it is not assured as nothing can be based upon since the games are not currently released in America. However, it may come to life, as the Japanese Best Wishes Anime comes out on September 23rd 2010. This idea cannot be shrugged off, as Sinnoh Saga is only just beginning.
