Tyrone's Sawk (Japanese: タイロンのダゲキ Tairon's Dageki) is the third Pokémon that Tyrone was shown to have, and Sawk is considered to be Tyrone's strongest Pokémon.

New Era[]

Unova[]

Sawk first appeared when Tyrone chose him to battle against Edmund in the Clubsplosion tournament, where Sawk battled against Edmund's Seismitoad. The referee signals for the battle to start and Tyrone is the first to make a move. He commands Sawk to start with Karate Chop. However, Seismitoad uses Rain Dance and quickly dodges the attack.

In an unsettling tone, Edmund explains that Seismitoad's Ability is Swift Swim which increases its speed when it rains. He then commands Seismitoad to use Drain Punch, which hits Sawk in the face dead on before he has a chance to dodge it. Sawk is sent flying and crashes along the field but quickly recovers. In order to slow Seismitoad down, Tyrone tells Sawk to use Low Sweep. But first he has to dodge a barrage of Mud Shot attacks coming from his opponent. He is successful and lands his Low Sweep right on Seismitoad's left leg, causing it to cry out in pain. Afterwards, Edmund tells Seismitoad to attack with Karate Chop and it slams its arm right into Sawk's gut which he also recovers quickly from. The two Pokémon then become locked in combat using Karate Chop on one another. However, Edmund notices that Seismitoad is moving slower than usual and asks what's wrong. That's when he finally notices the wound on its leg caused by Sawk's Low Sweep. Before he can do anything about it, Tyrone decides to wrap up the battle and tells Sawk to use Bulk Up followed by Close Combat. Seismitoad remains standing after the attack but falls down unable to battle seconds later. Sawk appears triumphant and bows down to his opponent. Tyrone is declared the winner and the entire audience begins cheering for him.

The next day, the second round begins. Don George announces Lazuli and Tyrone for the first battle. Lazuli starts off, and orders her Zoroark to use Dark Pulse, which Sawk uses Close Combat to block and move towards Zoroark. Sawk finishes Close Combat to knock Zoroark down to the ground. Don George calls it a head on match. Sawk uses Karate Chop and Zoroark grabs onto Sawk's hand. Sawk sends Zoroark hard to the ground. Zoroark is able to stand up and Tyrone comments that he is tough as Lazuli says the same about Sawk. Sawk uses Low Sweep which Zoroark tries to dodge, but Sawk makes contact and knocks her out. Lazuli tells Zoroark that she did a good job, congratulates Tyrone on the win, and compliments his Sawk for being so strong.

The match ups for the semi-finals of the tournament are announced. Kacey will face Tyrone, with Kacey's Emboar battling against Sawk. Kacey asks Tyrone whether he will be able to stop their momentum. Sawk begins the battle with Bulk Up and Emboar uses Hammer Arm, but it dodges the attack. Sawk hurts Emboar badly with Karate Chop. Emboar unsuccessfully uses Hammer Arm again, as Sawk then attacks Emboar with Close Combat. Emboar retaliates by throwing him. Sawk then uses Bulk Up to power up again, as Emboar uses Flamethrower, but misses. Sawk then uses two successive Karate Chops, but Emboar manages to grab Sawk's arms at the last second and fires a close-range Flamethrower directly onto Sawk's face, knocking it out and advancing Kacey to the finals.

Sawk was later chosen as Tyrone's final remaining Pokémon during his battle against Ryder at the Vertress Conference, where Sawk faced off against Ryder's Crustle. Sawk starts out with Bulk Up, and Crustle starts out with Rock Wrecker. Tyrone commands Sawk to use Karate Chop, which slices Crustle's Rock Wrecker in half. Ryder then commands Crustle to use Shell Smash followed by X-Scissor, which lands and causes Sawk to take some damage. Tyrone then commands Sawk to go in for multiple Karate Chops. However, Crustle dodges them all with its increased speed. Tyrone then gets the idea that Crustle won't be able to dodge if Sawk uses an attack that lowers speed, so he commands Low Sweep. However, Crustle dodges again and uses Night Slash, which Sawk blocks. Crustle then uses a powerful Rock Wrecker attack which lands and sends Sawk flying back. Sawk gets up, and Ryder commands Crustle to use another X-Scissor. Tyrone commands Sawk to catch the X-Scissor and use Low Sweep. After being weakened, and having his speed lowered from the attack, Crustle is unable to dodge an incoming Close Combat from Sawk.

However, after taking the attack, Crustle's ability, Weak Armor, kicks in. Ryder knows this is his chance and commands X-Scissor. However, Sawk dodges and uses another Bulk Up. Ryder commands back-to-back X-Scissor's, and Sawk barely dodges each one. Sawk begins to look worn out, but goes straight in for a Karate Chop. Ryder commands Crustle to counter with Rock Wrecker, but Sawk blocks it and lands his attack on Crustle, knocking him out and evening the score.

Ryder recalls Crustle and sends out Krookodile, who shows his exhaustion from the damage he took earlier in the battle. After giving each other a quick speech of intimidation, Ryder and Tyrone get ready to finish it. Sawk is commanded by Tyrone to use Close Combat while Krookodile is commanded by Ryder to counter with Dragon Claw. After attacking, Krookodile begins to look like he can't take another attack, right as Sawk prepares for a Karate Chop. However, Ryder fires right back by commanding Krookodile to use his new move: Aerial Ace. Krookodile charges in and dodges the Karate Chop, turning around and landing his super effective attack on Sawk, knocking him out and giving Ryder the win.

Roadtrip[]

When Tyrone and Sawk were investigating the Relic Castle after hearing rumors of a mysterious, powerful, Pokémon being spotted, they were captured by a duo of Cofagrigus, but they were later rescued by Valeria's Deerling, who used Energy Ball to free them.

Later, Sawk was Tyrone's first choice during a Raid Battle against a giant Kommo-o. Sawk joined forces with Kacey's Emboar and AJ's Serperior to attack Kommo-o with a combination of Karate Chop, Smog and Iron Tail, respectively, but Kommo-o easily brushes off the attacks. Kommo-o then fires off a powerful Boomburst which knocks out both Sawk and Serperior.

Personality and Characteristics[]

True to his species norm, Sawk is a dedicated fighter and always takes a battle seriously. Outside of battle, Sawk is usually calm and collective even when watching other Pokémon battle. Despite being openly referred to as Tyrone's most powerful Pokémon, Sawk shows no signs of arrogance or confidence, always proving himself as humble and respectful. His respectful nature is shown as Sawk bows down to his opponent after every match, whether Sawk wins or loses.
